This was my first stay at AKLV. We bought into Kidani Village last year and we still have not been able to stay there, but we did stay at Jambo house. I have to say that I love this resort. From the moment we got out of our car, the warm smiles and friendly greetings from all that work there was very nice. The lobby is beautiful, the African art is very impressive. The room was clean, and our balcony overlooked the pool. The pool area was nice, the water was warm, the kids enjoyed the slide, and all the noodles in the pool to play with. We enjoyed looking out at the animals from the public viewing areas. We also enjoyed the African storyteller around the firepit outside. I'm very happy we bought into this resort.

This was our 2nd visit to SSR, the resort is very nice, but, we like the feel of AKLV better. We do not like the bus service at SSR, and we do not like being so far away from the main lobby/store/restaurant area. The quiet pool was nice, the main pool was closed but reopened our last day. The rooms are layed out differently than AKLV, and we preferred AKLV better. I know that Kidani might be different than Jambo but the kitchen areas are alot bigger.

We had a nice vacation, I can't wait to go back and stay at Kidani!

Hi! from Bartlett!!

I'm doing a split stay at the end of April (last minute trip) 2 nights AKLV and 2nights SSR, I'm glad I was able to piece something together.

What room size did you book and did you find it that much of a let down to be at SSR after AKLV.

I have stayed 2x's now at AKLV and loved both stays!! Looking forward to Kidani.

Glad you had a nice trip. We are booked for Kidani in October. Can't wait. :woohoo::woohoo:

We had a 2 bedroom lock off at Jambo house, and a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR.

SSR is a great resort, the grounds are beautiful and we loved the counter service at Artist Pallette. It was a bummer to leave AKV but SSR was not at all a bad place to stay! I just prefer AKV better!

Thanks for the review! Which section of SSR did you stay in? We'll be there for the first time in three weeks. I'm prepared for the size, and it's for the second half of our trip (first half at BCV) so we're looking for some down time and relaxation.:goodvibes

How did you find the bus service at AKL?

We own points at SSR and AKV - they are about as different as night and day (to us) and we've enjoyed staying at both but AKV is more of an "experience". We split our stay in 2007 and made sure that AKV was the second part of our trip - not that we didn't like SSR, we did (do)! Maybe it's because Jambo House has that elaborate lobby - you walk in and are blown away with the theme of the resort.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip! :goodvibes

Where were you at SSR? When were the bus issues? We will have a car but I like to be at the parks first thing, and I was thinking about taking the bus to MK.

I guess the thing with SSR and buses is that if a normal drive time to a park is 15 minutes, you need to factor in that this resort has 5 bus stops, that will add extra time to your trip. One night, coming home from Downtown Disney, which is within walking distance, it took us 30 minutes to get back to the hotel. The actual wait times for buses at the resort or parks only were about 10-15 minutes.

Our first trip we stayed at Congress Park, which was the last bus stop on the way home from the parks, and this trip we stayed at Grandstand, which was the first bus stop coming home from the parks. I liked Grandstand better, they have a very nice small pool, with a hot tub, bar, and some fun squirting things for the kids.

At AKV there is 1 bus stop, we waited 5-15 minutes for busses.

I just think that you need to allow extra time when taking the SSR busses, especially if you have an ADR or you want to take advantage of the EMH.

Sounds great. We go to both SSR and AKV this Summer. I CAN"T WAIT!!!:jumping3: We've never been to either (actually never been on site).:dance3:
