Our youngest is above 2 so technically counts in the room head count, we booked at little mermaid room which only allows 4 per a room although we will be a total 5. Me and hubby, 2 daughters and the the 2 year old. Now it just occurred to me we probably can't use DME b/c we only have 4 people on room reservation. Can any offer advise on this? Can you pay to add someone to take magical express??

Even though the child is under 3, you should still have them listed on your room reservation. If they are, they will still be able to take ME with you.

As the PP said, you can have up to four people, plus an child under 3 in a crib, in the LM AoA room. I would call and have the toddler added to the reservation...if nothing else, so that the info about your party size is correct (for fire code). Once on the reservation, it shouldn't be a problem to get everyone on DME.

I thought that the rule was under 2. Certainly, the WDW site will allow me to book a family of 2 adults and three kids (5, 3, and infant) into a Little Mermaid Room; but, it will not allow me if I change the infant to a two-year-old.

OP, if you are going to pretend that your youngest doesn't exist (so that you can avoid the room occupancy limits), then you are not going to be able to take the DME. You cannot pay to add a person to the DME. Your options would be taxi, car service, or pay for Mears. Mears would be cheapest (you wouldn't even need to send everyone that may - most of you could still take DME).

The age is under 3. Youth age range, for passes and dining, is 3-9. Under 3 is 'free'. You should call and have your toddler listed in any case.

It is under 3.

So you have to call to book it? Three makes more sense (it is in line with their other rules), but the site will not allow one to book a Little Mermaid room with two adults and three children, all two or older (but will if one is an infant). I just tested it out (because I thought my memory was off). Weird.

Since that is the case - OP just add your daughter to your reservation.

I was able to fake-book a family of five, 2A/3C ages 12, 9, 2 in a LM room at AoA with no hitches nor glitches!

Wouldn't let me either. But, I was able to if I changed the third child to an infant! Go figure. I would just say that my child was 18 months old...not 2, but almost.

Okay, so I'm not going insane. It wouldn't let me either, which is why I thought the rule must be two (as with lap children), even though that didn't make much sense since everything else is at three.

I think it's just a glitch in their system - imagine that.

I would def add the 2 year old to the reservation. We had trouble on our last trip with DME because when I booked we didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl and so I didn't add them to our reservation to the last minute. We had already recieved our DME vouchers, but not one for the baby. That is actually what reminded me and prompted me to call and add her to ressie. The problem was I only had 4 vouchers and 5 people. I had to stand in line at the counter to get it all straightened out.

Just uncessary inconvenience!
