I'm helping a friend book a WDW trip. He has 5 in his party: Mom, Dad, 14 year old daughter, 12 year old daughter, 6 year old son. When trying to book a standard room at the Swan on DreamsRes for 2 adults and 3 children, a message pops up saying this exceeds the number permitted in this room. The Official Disney deluxe resorts permit 5, so I was wondering if this is true. Any suggestions? Can we go ahead and book for 2 adults and 2 children and request a roll-away upon arrival?

No you cannot - they will not give a roll-away at the Swan - there is no place in the room for it. ou should however be able to book 2 adults and 3 children at the Dolphin.....

They also charge you $25.00 additional to have the rollaway in the room -- not always a savings over the deluxe Disney resorts (most of which have a daybed for the 5th person).

Another friend from work stayed at the Swan last April and used a roll-away. I know he didn't bring it with him on the airplane! ;)

I'll try to book at the Dolphin and see what happens!

Thanks for your help!

In this case, it will still be a big savings to stay at the Swan/Dolphin, even with the roll-away charge. The trip will be in March and Disney wants $394/night for a peak-season stay at the Y&B Club. S&D offers an entertainment rate of $172.50/night for the same dates!:D

We stayed at the Swan and had a rollaway in the room provided for us. We had originally booked a room at the Dolphin because we were told by their reservation agent on the phone that the Swan could not accommodate a rollaway. However, when we checked in at the Dolphin we were told that our reservations had been transfered to the Swan and "of course" the rooms there could have a rollaway. Unfortunately, I don't think that the people who take your phone reservations at any hotel always know everything there is to know about that property. I think it's great that we can draw on each other's personal experinces on these boards to help plan our trips.
You may want to consider an inflatable bed rather than paying the daily charge for the rollaway. It may work out cheaper at the end of the week and you get to keep it!

I have friends that put a roll away in their Swan room, but it WAS cramped. If I needed a rollaway I would prefer to be at the Dolphin or a Swan studio room.

Our first year at the Swan, we were due to have a rollaway. It never arrived, even after asking a couple of times. However, I'm really not sure where we would have put it anyway, short of putting the desk out in the hall.

Next year, we reserved a king room and a 2 queen room connecting, and absolutely LOVED it!

Always (needs her personal space) ;-)

I have also heard on these boards that they may waive the roll away fee for a child. Not sure about the Swan though. We are getting a rollaway at the Swan, but we are in a studio.
