Hi we are off on our 2 nd trip in 5 days time. We last went 2 years ago this time the kids are 6 and 4. I have been thinking about a quick trip into Paris to see the Eiffel Tower but only if we have time as Disney will come first. POTC is closed when we are there and i know we would have gone on that at least 5 times so thats a big gap lol!

Please can someone let me know how i go about getting to paris, how much it might cost and how far away it is? Ca we go straight to the Eiffel tower and is there anything else to do around there? I would ideally only want to spend half a day doing a trip there. Maybe spending morning in Disney then get train to Paris.

Advice would be much appreicated

thanks

Count an hour there and an hour back.

You go from the train station on the RER A to Charles de Gaulle Etoile and then change to line 6 and get off at Trocadero.

The ET is just across the bridge and you get great views coming down from Troca.

It cost 14,20€ return for adults and half price for children aged 4 upto 10

If you were planning to spend a day in Paris you could get for the same price a Mobilis pass zones 1-5 for the adults and a Paris Visit for the children which costs around 10€ but gives you unlimited travel on the RER-Metro and bus.

Unless you reserve in advance you risk not to be able to go up the ET without a (very) long wait

You can check on their site availabilty http://www.eiffel-tower.com/

You could also go on one of the many Seine river tours that last about an hour

This one is nearest to the ET

and this one is the oldest and most well known

Hope you don't mind me hijacking your post

I have been to Paris about 20 years ago and would now be travelling with wife and 3 children (11, 10, 10) - the eldest is now studying Paris this term and I have previously been too scared to take them as I am not the most confident at travelling in foreign countries with them.

If we get the train from Disney I understand from your post that the ticket price is € 14.20 and half price for the children

Does the train go direct to Charles de Gaulle Etoile ?

When you get to Charles de Gaulle Etoile, is changing to line 6 simple ?

Is line 6 underground and how long does it take to get to the Trocadero ?

Anything else that you can think of to make me feel more comfortable about making my eldest daughter very happy

Thanks

Carrie Cat and others helped me with millions of info and advice when i asked recently about our day trip into Paris and you can see the answer to a whole host of questions in that thread which is clickable below :

As Carrie said, it would probably be better to get the Mobils Zone 1-5 for the adults at €14 and a Paris Visite for the kids at €10 roughly which covers not only the train fare but also unlimited travel in Paris itself such as Metro, bus etc.

Thank you for the reply. Can i just ask when you say to change to line 6 is that then a metro line? My husband is so worried about traveling in another country lol! i am sure it will be fine but i like to know what i ma doing otherwise i get a bit stressed.

Yes line 6 is a metro line. You will need to change from RER to metro but wont need to actually exit the station. Just follow the signs to the line you need. It will be 3 stops to Trocadero and as Charles de Gualle Etoile is the end of the line all the trains on that line will be going the direction you want to go.

Heres a map of the metro for you (it also shows RER line A but not as far as Marne la Vallee)
