Simpsons certainly is iconic, but it's also carried by three ever-changing elements - Lisa's solos, the chalkboard and the couch gag. With the latter two being visual gags, it's easy to overlook the theme itself.
I did mention Batman: TAS though, which is also done by Elfman, playing off of his score in Batman. Flash '90 also calls back to the Batman score, and I considered putting it into my Five, but I thought his theme for TAS better captured the essence of the main character.
Lots of classics here. My favorite modern theme is from the Good Fight. Both the music and visuals start off quiet and genteel, and then Boom - just like Diane Lockhart
On a side note, I met Sherman Hemsely at WDW, we had about a 5 min conversation, i told him i loved his work ( It was a disgusting display of butt kissing by me, im glad none of you seen it)
