5 Adults Hotel + Tickets for under $2000 ??

I may not be a disney expert but I am an expert in planning trips on a budget =) and I've been working on our own trip for the Monday after yours.

For the Hotel, there's the Ramada Plaza Anaheim: (2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa/free breakfast/refrigerator/free parking): 144/night ($505 total with taxes and fees)

Plus 2 day park hopper tickets ($1085 for 5) - keep in mind Mickey's Halloween Party happens on that Friday (Oct 3) so DL will be closing at 7 - prepare to spend friday night at DCA. Spend the first afternoon at DTD to get into the spirit without having to go into DL itself.

Alternatively, you can do 3 day, 1 park per day tickets for $1130. It may not give you the flexibility of a park hopper, but for an additional 45 dollars, you can spend the first 2 days at DL and 1 day at DCA.

If you have a Target Red Card, what I do is buy the gift cards from there at a 5% discount (This is how I save for Disney - I buy a gift card every pay period or any extra money) and use it for tickets, food, and souvenirs. If you don't want the credit card, you can can get a debit card. This would bring the 2 day park hopper down to to $1030.75 (saving $54) or a 3 day 1 park per day to $1073.50 (less than the cost of a 2 day park hopper).

So $1535.75 is the cheapest I can find for the hotel and 2 day park hopper (all taxes and fees included). But it does include free breakfast, free parking, walking distance to disneyland. Plus with the refrigerator, you can eat meals at the room like someone suggested. Bring snacks/food/water bottles into DCL and DCA.

If budget is really firm, I would suggest considering a 2 day/1 park per day to save an additional $185 ($1350 total including hotel).

Also, if you can adjust your vacation 1 day earlier, to check in Sept 30 and check out Oct 3 and do disney Oct 1/2 (wed/thurs), the Ramada Suites go down to $477.30 total (including fees and taxes). Plus, you'll avoid the heavier crowds on Friday, plus it's also the first day of Gay Days at Disneyland which would increase the crowds.

For the rental cars, it looks to be the $279 (enterprise via expedia) for Oct 1 - Oct 4 from scottsdale (but goes up to $379 if you do Sept 30-Oct3) and $399 (enterprise via expedia) for Sept 30 to Oct 5 from El Paso. That doesn't include gas, or any additional insurance or anything. That being said, I would recommend just renting the car from el paso, especially if you don't want to have the wear and tear on your car.

So with the hotel I noted, & target discount (total with rental car from el paso in parenthesis):

Sept 30-Oct 3 (Avoiding Friday/Gay Days)
2 days/1 park per day: 1,322 ($1,721)
2 day park hopper: 1,508 ($1,907)
3 days/1 park per day: 1,550 ($1,949)

Oct 1-Oct 4
2 days/1 park per day: 1,350 ($1,749)
2 day park hopper: 1,535 ($1,934)
3 days/1 park per day: 1,578 ($1,977)

I did find slightly cheaper hotels nearby, but they were either quite a bit further walking distance (needs ART), had parking fees, and/or didn't have breakfast.

Good luck in planning your trip! It makes me go crosseyed too keeping all the prices and details straight when researching hotels.

If you would like to earn money, and are on facebook, we have a group called the Disney Swaggernauts and you can make some seriously good money that way. I have made $100 in the last 2 weeks through Swagbucks alone. There's other ways to earn it too, PerkTv is one of them, you can earn Target gift cards and buy Disney gift cards at Target. It would help your budget at the very least.

Are you absolutely positive you need a van rental? It might be cheaper to do a taxi van to and from the airport. Also being in walking distance (like at the before mentioned Desert Inn and Suites) could make a difference in not having to pay for parking at the parks or take a shuttle which for two days for five people would be $50 I think. There are grocery stores short distances away that would probably be cheaper to take a taxi to instead of spending hundreds on a rental you will end up paying to park. I believe you can get car services that will make a quick stop on the way to the hotel too.

YAY!!!

I Did it!!:cool1:

For NOW anyway...Im seeing all these other Hotel suggestions and prices and now am going to go check those to see if I can do any better..

but so FAR I did this...

7 Passenger Mini Van from Alamo on Priceline Pickupand Drop off in El paso 10/7-10/12 (Did the Name your own Price thingy:

$279.00

x5 Adult 2-day Park Hopper on Disney's website:

$1085.00

On EXPEDIA.COM , 1 2Queen Suite with separate living room with sleeper sofa at Hyatt Place at Anaheim Resort and Convention Center 10/8-10/11:

$ 399.98

Pros: Close to DL, Bar/Lounge, Deli , and Coffee shop (for my coffee addict parents) in hotel, pool, looks very clean and good reviews, FULL HOT FREE Breakfast :P, Pool, Free Wi Fi

Cons: NO Free Parking >:(

Grand Total: $1763.98

It seems that would leave me Just over $200 for food/ spending which would be more than enough for me and my son since everyone else has to pay thier own but without free parking, I'm guessing it will cost around 17 bucks a day for parking and I know Anaheim hotels have those 'resort Fees" that go on top of regular room prices--I think this Hotel's is $20 per night.

Are resort fees refundable? Like do you get that back after check-out?

So with parking and "resort fees" that $111 more to subtract which leaves me with just over $100 for spending.

I'm thinking my dad will probably pay for parking. So I'd have around $150 to spend.

I'm gonna check some of these other suggestions - after lunch...I'm starving:)

Thanks:) But I need the Van to get us all from Arizona to Disneyland Lol!
Airfare for everyone would be way too expensive, plus impractical since its really only about a 4-5 hour drive from AZ.

I live in Texas so it will be just me and my son/daughter until we get to Scotsdale where we then pick up 3 more adults.

That room type sleeps 6 with 2 beds (not sure what size) and a pull out sofa. It is also in walking distance to the Toy Story Parking lot and you can just walk onto the lot and take the buses for free to the parks so you wouldn't have to drive or do the shuttles if you didn't want to.

There might be other hotels that would suit you better. Check the website out.

Wow, thanks ! I think I definitely will start buying a couple gift cards- I think giving it to my son will keep him (and me) from overspending.

Yah, I'm gonna just rent the car from El Paso, like you said. I figure Id rather spend a little extra than something happen to my own car and have to buy a whole new car or do some thousand dollar repair.

I did change the dates--thank God some people here mentioned Gay Days- I had no Idea it was during that time. Disney doesn't advertise it on tier website of events so that would have been an unpleasant surprise, I've been to DL once on GD (also unplanned- Didn't know it was going on) and the crowds were atrocious.

But I changed them to Oct 8 -11. Check in on the 8th, do the parks 9 & 10, and Check out the 11th. Hopefully the crowd level will be moderate since GD would be over by then?

Will the DL park close early on the 9th & 10th too for the Halloween Party?

3 nights in Best Western Stovall's Inn would be cheaper even with 2 rooms. I'm coming up with 435.24 *2 = ~$870. Plus is that it is within walking distance.

ETA: I didn't realize the Ramada slept 6 - that's way cheaper!

Disneyland will close early(to regular guests) on the 10th(7:00pm), because there is a Halloween Party on that night, BUT, there isn't a Party on the 9th!:)

I checked it out and you were right :) But according to the tiny little calendar on the right that says 'Check Availability) there's no rooms available at all during October. This is strange that the website lets me go through the whole process right up to getting ready to pay and doesn't flag the dates saying "Unavailable". If I hadn't noticed and checked that little calendar, I never would have known. what if I would have paid and everything...then get to the Clarion and they tell me they are booked?

>:(

Ill look at other hotels on there...

Try calling, I find they often have rooms that don't show up online.

I totally missed that you were flying to Arizona then driving. :crazy2: I thought you were all flying into Orange County or LA. I'm so glad you were able to get a vehicle for under $300. Good luck with making everything work! pixiedust:

Yay on your dad's great news! That is wonderful. It seems like most ideas have been covered, but I just had a couple more. Have you already purchased your tickets? If not, you can go through orbitz.com activities and buy them on there. If you do that and you have a discover, you can go through there site and get 5% cash back. If you don't have a discover you can go through Big Crumbs and get 4.2% cash back. So with a purchase that large, it will be like 42-$50. Also, I think it was 20% back through ebates for a little while in Feb., so you can wait until it's closer to go and potentially get that.

Another idea I had is I think when I called Howard Johnson's they wanted to talk to me about a timeshare, or something, where we could "stay for free" if I went to an hour long meeting or something like that. I would totally check into that if I were you. Just call HoJo and ask if there is anything like that that they know of. Only one person in your party would have to do it, or maybe you could get two rooms and have two people go.

Finally, small point, but buy water before you get to the park, or get free cups of water from the restaurants. It's $3.00-$4.00 otherwise.

u know the hotel makes the difference in your stay!!!

u want a good nights sleep? or a toilet that overflows? lol hahahha.

happened to me.

we stayed at the motel 6 maingate and it sucked so bad!

our tv blew up.

no bathroom door lol....(not quite family style)

another time we stayed in one of the originals, also walking distance......hmm I forget the name, close to anabellas... and the toilet blew up!!! water all over the floor and I had to plug in the fridge too to another socket cause it was loose and unplugged..... and it made noise all night long.

the motel 6 staff were way rude too.

long story short.

stay at the Travelodge.

its 60 a night most times for 2 queens, and nothing breaks.

u gotta walk a few more blocks though :-) but plenty of breakfast places on the way like ronalds and ihop :-) so its worth it, save a little more.

we eat a 12 dollar breakfast (total) at ronalds and we are good to go!!

:-)

ok that's my .02 cents.

walk and u save on Disney parking! save that $20 per day.

I bring a stroller too, and I throw 5 bottles of ice block water in the bottom. they never make me take them out. never.

bottles of water are $3 each @ Disney.

oh yah at the motel 6, there were black hairs in my bed!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

it was so gross to stay there.

the travellodge is always clean and always cheap. and nothing is ever broken.

its always a good nights sleep too.

theres an outback nearby and a mortons steakhouse too :-)

We have stayed at the Stanford and love it. No spider issues, maybe they were old reviews? They've done a lot of remodeling in the past few years from what I understand.

Also I didn't see anyone mention way.com. 5 adult 2 day hoppers are only $1010 on there.

Good luck!!

Quick note if you haven't nailed down a room yet: Check the Alpine Inn! Their parking is FREE, they are walking distance to the park entrance and their rooms are cheap. You won't be able to book online for their 2 room suite, but call them for it and the price is just over $100 a night. The room is basic, but clean and comfortable with 3 queen beds. No breakfast service there, but you can hit the store and stock the mini fridge (yes that is in the room) for way cheaper.

We have traveled on the cheap to Disneyland for years and it is very doable. My only suggestion is to set aside a bit of funds for food treats in the park that people really want to try...also try sharing things so you can get 1 or 2 of something and everyone gets a bit. Dole Whip is a must :lovestruc

Check out aRes Travel for prices on park tickets. We bought 4 day park hoppers for the price of 3. For our family of 5, including one child, we spent about $1300 on park hoppers. I agree with the PP who said the tickets are going to be a huge chunk of your budget.

Also, check mousesavers.com for rental car discounts. We got a great rate through Budget by using a code found on mousesavers.

All helpful budget ideas: I would also try Getawaytoday travel. You can get really good hotel deals (including parking, sometimes breakfast and suites) from them including a night free with some hotels plus your tickets. You can see costs with or without tickets.

This I get the best deals through them!

We love the Desert Inn and Suites and have stayed there many times. It's right across the street. I consistently find a double room there for around 150-160 per night. Not fancy but clean and the double rooms have 4 queen beds, 2 bathrooms, 2 refrigerators and two microwaves. Breakfast is included with cereal, toast, fruit, juice and coffee. The pool is indoor but we don't have time for that anyway. All of our time is spent at the parks.
