Halloween

Sorry I haven't updated recently- we have had a rather full half term holiday and Halloween.

Just thought I would post a few photographs of Rory dressed up for Halloween.

019.jpg

His costume was the grim reaper I believe- or some ghoul. He also had a glowing mask he is not wearing in these photos.

More updates comin' soon! Stay safe! :yay:

Bonfire Night

We have just had Bonfire Night (5th November). I am not sure whether you know what it is about in the US, so I will explain.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November.

Bonfire Night is a night commemorating the day that Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliment in London. He and some other men were in a conspiracy and luckily, a relative managed to ring some alarm bells before Fawkes had made the explosion. He was caught and hung, drawn and quartered.

So now, all across England on the 5th or the weekend nearest to it, people buy fireworks or go to a local public firework display. Our village had one and it was so LOUD.

I stayed in the house with Oscar because he gets TERRIFIED of fireworks. Some bangs made the whole house shudder even though the fireworks were half a mile away. Osc dashed upstairs and hid under Rory's bed trying to escape the noise. Poor little guy was shaking and absolutely terrified. He wouldn't even eat a dog biscuit. (He loves food so this was a sign.)

Anyway, we got some photos of the fireworks. They remind me of WDW lots so I thought I'd show you.

Osc is fine now and happy as ever. :grouphug:

Happy November all! :wave2:

So, I'm confused. Meaning NO offense....do you celebrate that he tried? Or that he failed?

That he failed- haha! We have huge bonfires and make Guy Fawkes scarecrows that we burn on them. I've never really understood why it's such a big holiday here. But we are certainly not celebrating that he tried! ;)

I gotcha! Thanks.:)

Rating Scheme

Hello all. I will be rating things in order of priority or preference and would like to introduce you to it. My ratings system is as follows:

::MinnieMo = 1/5

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo = 2/5

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo = 3/5

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo = 4/5

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo = 5/5

And of course, 5/5 is the highest (AKA this is the biggest priority and I want to do it loads) and 1/5 is the lowest (AKA I do not want to do it at all really)

What Are Your Two Favourite MK Restaurants?

Welcome back! Now I shall be rating each restaurant in MK out 5 depending on how much I would like to eat there. I have made a questionnaire for my family to fill in on their opinions but you can guess how well that went. My mum eagerly filled it in though. Is it considered sad for a 16 year old to be quizzing her family on where they’d like to eat in Disney World? Hmmmmn.

All photos have been taken from the DISBoards website. I do not own any of them.

This restaurant is a priority for us because we are so eager to eat in the castle. We regret a little not doing it last time and really want to try it this time. We are big MK fans and love the nostalgia! Me and Mummy also want to meet the princesses. Rory will be pleased with the sword he gets!!!

The Plaza

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo
I am not too sure about trying this one out- really just because there seem to be more interesting options around MK and the MK resorts. Also I am not sure that it is the best value on the DDP. The lunches look really delicious and light compared to other restaurants!

Be Our Guest

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo
This is another priority. I just cannot wait. The food and atmosphere both look great and I am a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast. I cannot wait to see more reviews emerge of this place and am determined to get an ADR there. I do really hope it will be easier to get an ADR there by next year though. William isn’t too thrilled about it though. Hard Rock Cafe is where he wants to go- he loves the one in London.

Crystal Palace

::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo
Whilst this meal didn’t stand out to us, I think I’d like to do it again to get into MK early. The food is pretty good (potato casserole- YUM!!!) but we aren’t really interested in the Winnie the Pooh characters. A very pretty restaurant though. We didn’t have a good experience with the lady signing us in which was a disappointment so I am just hoping we do not have the same grumpy, rude lady this time round!

I am not sure about this one- it looks old town America which appeals to me (America loving Brit). I haven’t looked into the menu much or read many dining reviews so I’ll have to look into that one. I would appreciate any advice.

Again, I have read awful reviews about this place and am not sure. I have space for an ADR here, but just am not sure I want to waste a precious credit dining here. I will have to look into it as yesterday I read a really convincing review for it.

I would be really grateful if you could tell me your two favourite MK restaurants and why so I can make an informed decision! Many thanks!!!

Christmas

Tis the season to be jolly, falalalala, lalalala! :santa:

It is officially coming up to Christmas! I have bought my advent calendar and even started Christmas shopping. (Rory's stocking presents last weekend!)

Every year, I help organizing the present buying and keep the costs lower whilst still having a great day. So when I pointed out a Swarovski Crystal tealight candle holder to my dad, hoping we get it for grandma, and he says it looked tacky, you can guess after all my research I was stumped. :badpc:

Anyway, since WHEN IS SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL TACKY!!!???

Here is a link to their Disney range- HOW AMAZING IS IT?!?!?! (And also expensive but I can dream!) I wish they would come out with some Princess products.

Click HERE to see Swarovski's range of Disney products

We don't have Thanksgiving here but it sounds so exciting! I love the thought of it- must be like an early Christmas. We aren't in the festive mood here yet. I really want to go to Paris to see an Xmas market but apparently, that is too expensive. :faint: So Manchester will suffice.

I am trying to update my PTR but Photobucket has other ideas. As soon as I can get my photos I shall update!

Have a great Thanksgiving! :santa:

Getting to Know Willum

Welcome back! I swapped computers and borrowed my parents' and voila- Photobucket is back up!

Here is what William can be seen doing a lot...

111.jpg

He is very grown up for his age, but we all love him. He likes to spend his days up in his room playing Xbox and Minecraft with his friends, and cycling out to meet them in various villages. Here he is with Mummy and Rors on a boat trip in Loch Ness.

065.jpg

When we were driving back from Loch Ness to our holiday home in Aviemore, we saw unusual little towers people had made out of rocks. It turned out they were mostly memorials. We made one for Grandpa who died 10 years ago. Willum loved him, as did I, and unfortunately Rory never got to meet him because he hadn't been born yet.

086.jpg

Of course... what was Willum's aim out of the holiday to the Highlands in Scotland? He said:

"I really want to climb to the top of a mountain and see if I get cell phone reception there!"

Typical, eh...? :rotfl:

Here we are cycling around Loch an Eilein. It was absolutely beautiful and even Willum, who doesn't like spending too much time with us, absolutely loved it.

249.jpg

Here Willum is with one of his good friends. Turns out he also loves Florida. His grandfather owns DVC and lets them use it. They have stayed at BWI, OKW and next April are staying at..... our beloved SSR!!!

Personal Profile

Name: William
Age: 14
Favourite places: London, and Florida

Hobbies: Playing on Xbox, computer, Facebook, cycling, sports and hockey
Favourite Disney character: Probably Brer Bear, Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox
Favourite park: Magic Kingdom
Favourite resort hotel: Offsite- Reunion- Onsite- SSR
Favourite restaurant: He didn't really like the meals out as much as us, and didn't even come to some with us! :confused3
Favourite place near us: Probably London

AHH! Okay, so you're like British or Scottish?!:hyper: OMG I'm kinda a little British obsessed! Seriously, not a lot, just a little bit! :rolleyes1 Anywho.. I'm LOVING this PTR!:thumbsup2 You're doing a really good job!:goodvibes Definitely subbing in!popcorn::

P.S. What date are y'all going again? Like the dates you are saving for?

You and your family are ADORABLE.

While reading your post about the MK restaurants...I realized I've only eaten at one of them! We did breakfast at Crystal Palace last year. I thought the food was good, but I'm pretty obsessed with Winnie the Pooh so I probably would have loved it regardless. Cinderella's Royal Table and Be Our Guest would be my picks, just for the atmosphere and experience.

Have you been to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary? I think the quality is comparable to CP but Mickey and friends are there instead of the 100 Acre Wood gang.

Getting to Know Rory

Welcome back. Now, getting to know Rory, my lovely 8 year old brother... :cool1:

Rory is giggly, cheeky and a real cutie. He was born when I was 8 years old. He likes Disney but moreso Mario, Luigi and Minecraft.

Here he is at our cousin's wedding in Scotland (he refuses to wear a kilt- ugh!)

032.jpg

We went round the hotel and explored. I found it interesting that during the war it turned into a boarding school, presumably for safety.

Cheeky eh...?

087.jpg

He is really clever but charming and fun at the same time with a nice group of friends. He couldn't understand why none of them wanted to watch Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas at his sleepover. :blush:

Here he is opening his birthday presents- can you tell he likes Minecraft? (Blame Willum for that, he persuaded Rors to help pay for the game and ever since they are both hooked!)

027.jpg

Here he is at Hard Rock Cafe London. We love that place. He is holding a special guitar that used to belong to some famous person, but I am not very knowledgeable about rock or pop so wouldn't know who!

Here Rorsie is with Mummy on his birthday...

046_zps3fdb2250.jpg

They get on so well! Rors loves her and Daddy, and me and Willum and Oscie too I hope! :rolleyes2

And tickling Rors on the London Underground is always good fun...!

My Mum is English and my Dad is Scottish (Scotland is Britain too- although soon they are having a vote on whether to leave the UK or not :rolleyes: ) so I am really half and half. Really- why're you British obsessed? I'm American obsessed! I love America! :flower3:

Thank you! I hope you enjoy reading more. We are leaving on the 30th October '13 and coming back on the 16th November 13'. Someday I would love to see more of America but I cannot give up Florida can I? :rotfl:

I was just trying to persuade my parents to have 2 weeks in California, then a Disney cruise from LA to Miami and then 2 weeks in WDW! But apparently a 6 week holiday isn't do-able at the moment. :sad1:

You and your family are ADORABLE.

While reading your post about the MK restaurants...I realized I've only eaten at one of them! We did breakfast at Crystal Palace last year. Thankyou! Well, Rory and Osc are but not sure about the rest of us! :rotfl:

Well, we have 33 meals to plan if my little scheme goes to plan and we upgrade to deluxe DDP. Crystal Palace is already on the cards- we did like it last time, and the potato casserole was literally all I ate it was so good. I guess we are similar because CRT and BOG are both priorities for me too! It's so exciting reading all the reviews from BOG.

We actually have been to Chef Mickey's and LOVED it. The food was good, but the atmosphere was great. CM's and CP are both musts for us. I want to get Pooh's autograph, I used to LOVE him when I was younger.

Thanks for joining in! :wave2:
