Hi!

Welcome to my trip report of our very first trip to Walt Disney World! Technically I am still on vacation, but we left the world last Friday. I arrive home tomorrow afternoon :(

We stayed at the Pop Century Resort from May 8th-15th, then headed to Tampa until the 19th to visit family.

Your cast! (don't worry, its small!)

Me: Kara. 25 year old single momma. Full time student hoping to get into a nursing program. I live in Indianapolis with my son. I adore Disney and am enthralled by all of the princesses. Sleeping Beauty is probably one of my favorite Disney movies.

Rylan: My 3 year old son (terrorist). He's a pretty neat little kid when he is in a good mood ;) He had never been to Disney either so I brought him along for the ride!

Ahead: pictures of the cast and the first day of the trip! What happened to us after no sleep at all and a flight that left at 6:45am??

May 7-8th
Thursday & Friday

I made the mistake of purchasing tickets for a 6:45am flight out of Indianapolis. Never ever do that when you have a toddler in tow. The early flight meant we had to be at the airport by 4:45am, and had to leave the house by 4:15am!

I had begun packing nearly a month prior to our trip. However, as much as I had already done, I was still busy the day before we left. I had to run a ton of errands on Thursday. My printer crapped out so I had to go to Kinko's and print off about ten pages of information! This was a huge trip for both of us so I wanted to be completely prepared with confirmation numbers, pricing info, reservations, etc.

I made a last minute appointment Thursday morning to meet with admissions from a private college, to try to transfer credits and attend that school. I was exhausted and so was Rylan. I finally picked him up from the sitter around 2pm that day and both of us ended up sleeping for several hours. This turned out to kick us in the butt!

We didn't wake up until around 6:30 that night! I finished up last minute packing, took a shower, and got clothes laid out. Neither one of us went to bed that night. I am not exaggerating. We both were wide awake at 3am when I had to "wake up" to start getting ready to go.

So we get ready and leave the house for Josh's house, who is going to go with us to the airport and keep my car while I am gone. Indianapolis just opened a new airport terminal less than a year ago and this was my first time seeing it. So it was quite different trying to find my way around to the check in and gate areas! Josh of course had to leave us at security so we were on our own from there.

Rylan decided to show his true colors and start acting up while we were in line to walk through the metal detector. He started running around through the roped off lines and wouldn't stand up and started throwing a fit. I was getting so frustrated because I had a suitcase in one hand and was trying to grab him with the other hand. I also had to take my laptop out of the case to have it x-rayed and try to get all of his stuff off too!

I got lucky. Truly truly lucky. A lady who was standing in line behind us ended up grabbing Rylan for me and helped him to take his shoes off while I focused on putting things in tubs and on the conveyor belt. She met me on the other side and as luck had it, she was on the same exact flight as us. She ended up being my savior and helped me with my luggage so I could pay attention to Rylan, she played with him and let her chase him around so I could sit down, and she kept an eye on my things so we could go to the restroom and get something to eat. I forget her name...but if for some reason she DISes, THANK YOU!!!!

We finally start boarding and of course Rylan sits next the the window. This was his 4th or 5th flight. I've had him on airplanes since he was 6 months old. Takeoff doesn't phase him one bit!

Not too long into the flight, my child finally passes out! He slept the entire flight. By this point I was exhausted. I just wanted to curl up and sleep for days. We deboarded the plane and I kinda wandered around trying to find the DME desk. I finally find them, inform them of the extra piece of luggage (being his car seat) and get signed in. We boarded the bus within 10 minutes and were on our way within another 5 or 10 minutes!

I believe we arrived at Pop around 10am or so. I knew check in wasn't until 3pm but I had originally planned to leave luggage with luggage services and go to the parks. Little did I know how dog tired I would be. The last thing I wanted to do was walk around in 90 degree heat! I was hoping and praying we would have an early check in.....

Great start to your trip report and Kudos to you for taking you son by yourself. I could never have done that when my kids where that age. I hope you get into your room soon and are able to get a little rest before hitting the parks. I know what it's like to NOT sleep before a trip. I once stayed up an entire 24 hours before an 8am flight to Colorado. After that I decided I will NEVER fly anywhere again on an early morning flight! I can never sleep the night before I "have to" get up super early.

Looking forward to more!

Signing on for more! I often say that trip reports and pictures are what keep me sane until our next WDW vacation. I anxiously await your Pop pictures and your thoughts on the resort. We are staying there for the first time this August. I'm a bit worried since we usually stay at a moderate resort.

I'm in too! We're in Greenwood, and headed to our first family trip in September, also at POP. Can't wait to read more from a fellow Hoosier!

Hey! I'm here! I can't wait to see all the pictures! I had so much fun at Epcot! I wish Tyson hadn't got angry and needed a nap. I was looking forward to riding Soarin with you. :guilty: Are you home now?

Haha thanks! I will NEVER take him again by myself lol. At least not until he is much older! It was a struggle for us for sure. I was frustrated a lot with him because he was acting up the entire time, but more on that when I update!

I am definitely going to review the resort...unfortunately I didn't really get many pictures like I planned :( Not even the ones of the signs with the years and what happened in those years.

Yay! You made it and I'm inpopcorn::

:welcome: Thanks for joining!
