I haven't heard Emily complain about school. I think she's too young still. The teacher has a fun activity planned each day based on the letter. Today they'll be making paper airplanes then going outside to fly them.

Awww, those days pass so quickly :sad1: When Rachel was in K, they were "letter people" for the last few weeks of school! (I don't think there were 26 of them though, so I think they missed a letter or 2!) They made cute costumes to represent their letter, did lots of letter activities, and even had a Letter Parade!!! :woohoo:

DBCS: :welcome:

princess22: Congratulations on your graduation and your new job teaching 2nd grade. :yay: Elementary School Teachers Rock!!! :woohoo:

Mickeymo: Congratulations to your DH on his graduation - that's awesome!! :cheer2:

Hello everyone! It's someone new... well sort of.... This will be our 4th Disney cruise and we are just now checking in on the boards. I know.... BAD BAD!!

It has been about 2 1/2 years since I was one the boards I guess and our last cruise was May '03. I have been scanning and I recognized Verandaman from our last cruise.... We did the wine tasting in one of the Cat 1s.... the couple from England who got married on the cruise hosted as I remember...

Andy, you also gave us a great reccomendation for a resturant on the way home -- Great rock shrimp!!!

So anyway.... WEEEER'EEEER BAAAAACK!!!!

My crew consists of DH (42 going on 14 :cool1: ), DD (13 going on 30 :cheer2: ) & DD (7 & still a very sweet child princess: ) and me (ageless  )

So, without me having to read all ONE MILLION :rotfl: posts... can anyone catch me up?? Any new rules or hints I shouldn't miss?? Whats new???
:welcome: :welcome:

Your description of DH is great!! Sounds like my kind of guy!! We don't need any fuddy-duddies on THIS cruise!!

I never heard my parents complain too much about the politics. I do remember being home from college one weekend and a parent called to talk to my mom. It was a Fri. night. My parents had gone out and this parent was miffed that my mom wasn't available to talk to her.

My first job out of college was making more money than my mom after 20 years of teaching. That's just sad!

Ang

I'm a daughter of a teacher, too! Teachers hold a special place in my heart...

Dad always had a few parents like that - but, our number was always unlisted and is still unlisted too...If a parent was miffed, he wasn't available at night for a conference call - he would always reply - "My alternative office hours are 6:00-7:15am before school I would be more than happy to call you then"...It's amazing how good the mid day conference time sounded.... :lmao:

His other favorite parent rant - you only work 9 months for your 12 mo paycheck and you are done working at 3:00pm...

I got the "no money, no future in education" speech when deciding on my major for college ...

When we were at BIL's house in Feb., SIL said that we could help her grade papers. We could each take a stack and she'd call out the answers. I said, "Oh, I've done that before!". I'm sure all of you have too.

Ang

MickeyMo- Congrats on your DH's graduation! That's awesome!

Someone mentioned doing nursing, and that's funny becuase I was about to do nursing instead! But after taking anatomy, I realized the extra money wasn't worth it.

Even though teachers don't make a lot of money, the rewards make up for it. I have learned that this semester. My class I interned in had a party for me and made cards and gave me a ton of presents. At the end of the day, they were crying and telling me they didn't want me to leave. It made me cry when I realized I meant something to them. I made the right decision when I decided not to do nursing! I love children too much!

When I changed my major, I also went and found a DBF who is going to Med school so I can make sure i can keep going on the DCL!

Weather is calm here tonight. That bad weather you saw Diana must have been slightly northwest of here. So glad tomorrow is Friday. Have a busy weekend. Charley has another overtime night shift on Saturday and I have to go into the office for several hours during the day. No seeing each other that day. Ashley has to go to a mission trip, so everyone but Dale will be busy. I have to take off so much next week

Say a little prayer for Charley this weekend. He is having to go back into the Doctor on Monday. What happens at this visit will determine if they decide to put in a pacemaker. He is on beta blockers right now, because when the did the tilt test about 6 weeks ago he got really ill. They will do the same test again and see if the medication is helping. If not, they want to do the pacemaker. So on Monday I am going with him on that and then Wednesday they are supposed to install the refrigerated air, Thursday am I have dental appointment and then Friday afternoon, both of my brothers are flying in. Busy week

Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts for Charley. Keep us posted.

Liz

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!! :sunny:

The page looks great and we absolutly want in on the buttons and the navigator! So sorry we missed out on the tees -- they are really cute! I would much rather have that than another island shirt! Common sence tells me I don't need another island tee... of course I dont talk to my common sence much... And DH is an absolute bag addict!! He is really upset after seeing the cool bag!! Oh well, that is what we get for hibernating for so long. :guilty:

I took a quick look at the list on the site -- looks like a fun group! DBCS is all of us -- Doug, Barbara, Chelsea(13) & Shelby(7). We are looking forward to the meet on 10 @3.

I know Chelsea is hoping to find some buddies that we will let her roam freely with. I am the nutty mom who watches all the cruise horror news shows a month before sailing. We are trying to attach some sort of GPS to her swin suit but not having much luck. Maybe we can weave it into the braids... :rolleyes1 Our best bet is going to be friends and a radio and a good parental threat talk I guess. :bitelip: It was so much easier when we just checked them into the clubs. Thank goodness for Shelby -- not even a chance she can check herself out!!

I am going to start reading backwards, but no guarentee that I will read all -- I do still have to pack and there is only a month left!! :yay: :cloud9:

Got to go finish the my last GS cookie sale drop... I'll be back!!
Barbara

Happy Belated Birthday to you

HA! Too funny. I love children a lot too....
so I went into pediatric nursing!!! :) Now if it wasn't for their whiney parents, it'd be a great job!!! :)

I remember when I was young (about 8th grade) and my mom and I were on the deck overlooking the property....they have a nice house, 15 acres, woods, a lake, etc...and she was talking about selling and downsizing...WHAT? I told her not to....that I wanted the house....and I told her "I'll be able to afford it, after all, I"m going to be a nurse and it's inevitable that nurses marry doctors!!!!" That was good for a laugh.

Now when she brings that up, she thinks it's funny....and I remind her....I DIDN'T marry a doctor.....I married a MEDICAL STUDENT.....so I got all the loans that came with it!!!

I could not find an avator with the ray from finding nemo which would be more appropriate than the shark......but nothing else really fit....

Thanks Tinksdad -- Too funny...I love it!!

I was told you could hook me up with GPS ankle device for my DD13?? :teeth: :rotfl2:

This is our first cruise with a teen... Have you had a teen on a sailing before? I really wish they would let us sign them into a club and then tag them for us... wouldn't that be simple and comforting?? :goodvibes

If you or anyone has info on the teen programs I would love to hear it. :bitelip:
