Ah come one Karen - it's not like I would tell anyone else. Why you would think we'd run right from dinner and head to the internet cafe. Oh yeah we would :rotfl2:

As for excursions, we're just going with the flow like Kikipug. The ages of our girls really limit what we can do. Besides, DH would rather relax & chill on his vacation rather than doing anything commando-style. I think the only thing that I will plan is Palo (if I can get it). I do agree with what Kiki said ... each person does their family vacation a different way. I hope you are able to relax some and enjoy your vacation. I have a feeling it will all work itself out in the end.

That's what we're planning to do also. Last time we cruised the Magic (Eastern), we let the "locals" show us the islands, best beaches, shopping, etc. Worked out great and saved us lots of $$$$ :goodvibes

And here I was editing my siggie and did not even notice the post count. Congrats on snagging the milestone.
Edited to say - oops forgot milestones were only the 1000's.

Good Morning - We are back and while we had freeze warnings, at least we do not have snow. Tonight - 34 is predicted.

We arrived home late last night - Sam and to pull in some of the tender plants, but we will need to haul in more tonight. I crashed, I was so tired, from the journey and emotional roller coaster.

We had a good time at JB's but Jim, how come no warning about rock shrimp being out of season. We had blue crabs instead, very good, but not rock shrimp. I know, it was my fault that I passed on the rock shrimp last trip. We also had the veggie appetizer - yummy - steamed veggies, with cheese, and crab meat. yummy.

Now it is time to catch up at work. Stay warm everyone. :sunny:

Hello Shelley,
And I have to disagree with you. Micromanaging isn't about how many, it's about examining an activity to the point that you've removed all the fun from it. And staying up till 2 in the morning fretting over this can't be exactly fun.
I wasn't staying up until 2am fretting about this. I'm always up late... ask anyone! LOL

You're so absolutely sure of that? Kids are usually a lot more flexible than that normally, and easily find other things to latch onto.
They will have fun in the club/lab- of that I'm sure... but yes, that was the only excursion they wanted to do, otherwise they'd rather stay in the club/lab. And they only wanted to do that because it's something very different and like my oldest loves dolphins/etc. (her nickname in Girl Scouts has been dolphin for many years)

But it is because of the weather. A hurricane passed thru and trashed the place. If other cruise lines want to risk their passengers safety, security and experience at the port by going there, fine. DCL obviously wants to protect their passengers and guarantee their experiences at the ports better than other lines. And it is your opinion, DCL I am sure is actually sending people there to have more concrete info than an opinion to make a decision on if they should go back there or not. Especially since the tourism authority there is doing everything including obscuring the facts about conditions there to make it seem so back to normal, which it certainly is not.
We will disagree here because I do not believe the other cruises going there are risking their passengers safety to do so. And I have read that the reason DCL is not going there now is most likely because of the tender issue and other cruiselines having more clout/whatever and so if there are lots there at once, DCL is at the end of the line. That's why I said in some post -either on this thread or the one discussing this in the main cruise form- I'd rather get there late or take a long time tendering than pass it all together, but DCL doesn't give us that option... they just skip it.
Lunch on CC is honestly, just good, not spectacular. Typical cookout food with a few odd extras. You're not missing anything there. And the ship is going there twice, so you will get a shot at it anyhow.
Never know... 2nd time might be bad weather and can't make it. Yes, I'm the opposite of polly positive at this point. LOL

Are you figuring all your other expenses such as food and park tickets into this 3 times your 12 day trip? Cruises are, for the most, part a lot more inclusive than a park trip. Really can't compare one to the other. Not saying you can't be disappointed, but making such extreme and inflexible plans on a moving resort you are setting yourself up for such disappointment.
Yes, I am figuring all costs with resort (we usually stay value btw- this will be our first trip staying anything above value the 2 days before this cruise), tickets and food -- there wasn't a dining plan at that time either. I know exactly how much we spent for that trip and for this trip not even counting any charges we don't know exactly what they'll be (for instance not counting shutters and alcohol we drink on the cruise)- it's 3 times as much. We apparently can go to WDW pretty inexpensively... atleast compared to some I guess. LOL

There's the real key here, isn't it? You want to go, but selling DH on it is an uphill battle. My advice is so simple it's not funny. Just get him on the ship. No need to oversell him on any planned events to show how happy you're making the kids or anything, once he has the experience of it, 9 times out of 10 a person skeptical on cruising does turn around.
Selling DH on anything Disney was an uphill battle. He usually always gives in to me (or says just go alone or take the kids with ya - unless I say no, this is a family trip you're coming LOL) but he was actually looking forward to this cruise once he found out he'd get to go scuba diving in Cozumel (or somewhere). I hope you're right... but something tells me if he doesn't get to scuba dive, he's not going to turn around about cruising... mostly because of the cost. He's willing to ignore the high sticker price if he gets to dive though. LOL

To the person that asked (sorry I can't remember who it was)- I believe 75 days out is March 13th.. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But it is NOT the end of the world if you don't know EXACTLY what time Bingo will be on your cruise. Besides, what's going to happen if your planned Bingo time comes up but you are enjoying walking around deck 4 with the family enjoying the sunshine and sea breeze? It won't matter if Bingo is at 10:30, 10:45 or 11....enjoy the moment.
Hey, I was just trying to find things for me to do on the cruise and not plan spa treatments/etc. during bingo time. LOL But pardon me for laughing out loud at the thought of our family just walking around enjoying sunshine/etc... that's so not us. Not going to happen. LOL

From the posts (thanks btw!) it sounds like character breakfast is something we can go ahead and miss. Youngest DD won't know what she's missing. LOL We have been to many character meals before and we'll be seeing Cindy on the night of our arrival (short stay before cruise) anyway- and that's what matters most to her anyway. So that's cool. Thanks for the advice on that.

As for the meal on CC... sounds great to us! But then I guess that's just who we are/what we like... doesn't sound much different than Mickey's Backyard BBQ and that's one of our favs (and not because of the characters -we liked the food). I have read about the food, seen pictures of people eating the food- it sounds right up our alley... rather than eating breakfast food on the ship I mean. :) We'll just skip the late character breakfast. No way I'd change our dining-- it works best for us eating late plus we're linked up with some great people from this board! :)

Darnit! I forgot to watch Gray anatomies last night! Oh poo.... I've only caught that ONCE (last week) and was hoping to see it again. I think I like that show! LOL

Karen - yes, March 13 is 75 days out.

BBB - I understand your frustration. As a compulsive planner, I like know what we are scheduled for. We don't cruise often and this is a big trip for us. Our last cruise was 4 years ago and I don't foresee any more since I have one I will be sending him and my money to College in a few years. However, what happens will happen and I guess we will just have to have fun any old way we can, which is pretty easy on a cruise ship as nice as Disney.

I do disagree with you on one thing -- I don't want to go to Cozumel if it means we take forever to tender. Tendering is a pain in the neck anyway if you ask me (we did it in Grand Cayman). If they are short on Tenders in Cozumel and we would have to sit there waiting on one forever, to me anyway, that is just not good. I wouldn't be holding my breath for Dolphin Encounter to be open in May. I had the royal swim booked and cancelled on Jan 1. I got my money back last Thursday. I would be worried about keeping it even if they are open, especially if we were tendering, got stuck and then not made it in time for your appointment. Then if you booked this on your own, you might not get your money back.

Anyway, hang in there and I am sure everything will work out for the best!

Hi Shelley,

I am a compulsive Disney planner - I walk the park with 2 guide books following plans and looking for hidden Mickeys. So, when it came to our first Disney Cruise -( at that time we had no plans to return on the Magic with the kids)- I discovered DIS and investigated and read up on everything - came armed with a spreadsheet in excel with times listed to the 1/2 hr for each famiy member so, we could plan our days, make sure the kids wouldn't miss a thing. We didn't know our seating rotation so, I sat right down in line (we on the first transpo bus from the airport - FIL was fuming at the hurry up and wait) and got to work deciding Palo reservations, etc plugging into the spread sheet- and then passed out assignments to the adults to get to various places to make the reservations because we wanted Palo dinner, brunch, tea with Wendy, kids club checkin and a cabana massage on castaway...

By the next morning the spreadsheet went out the window and the kids picked not-to-miss activity each day and they were thrilled. DH was thrilled because I was no-longer micromanaging and IL's well, they were on their own - I wasn't managing their schedule anyway....

Sometimes, too much info ahead of time is not a good thing - Since this is the first of a special itinerary - adding in the complications of last year's hurricane season (and dare I say the possibility of 2006 hurrricane season) - no one really knows what will be planned on the itineraries and it's all speculation. Disney may even suprise us and introduce special activities because this is a the first special itinerary - there's not too many shore excursions that interest us as a family either - I can't stand shopping of any form- so, we've decided just to hang out and see what comes. Activities don't make a vacation special, families make vacations special. My DH is graduating in May with his MBA - it's been a stressful two years for all of us - we're looking forward to reconnecting as a couple and a family. My advice is figure out what one thing is a priority for your family - and anything else is a bonus....DH is also a certified diver - and while he would love to go - he's decided this vacation our priority is family and the kids....so, we're doing things as a couple or as a family - he's taking a pass and scheduling his solo stuff at a later time - post cruise - post student loans

Hang in there and just enjoy the excitement and the anticipation - it's hard to wait!!!!

And yes, I'm a compulsive over planner which is why I was TRYING to only "plan" a few things on this cruise- but apparently that wasn't the wisest choice... should have planned and looked forward to MORE things that way a few things nixed wouldn't have been so disappointing. Darned if I do, darned if I don't. LOL

I get what you're saying about Cozumel but the difference for us is that I'd just let HUBBY do the waiting to tender and we'd stay on the ship (all day or just until later) --because that's where he can dive and that's what he wants to do- and Dive With Martin didn't pin us down to any certain time... he said he'd wait on us if we were late to port/etc. Well by us I mean DH, Garry and his son. LOL So I guess what I'm saying is it would be worth it to him.... although I realize not everyone would feel the same. But even for myself I'd rather take a long time to tender than not go there at all... or some other place that DH could dive... or change our at sea days/etc. Not everyone is going to feel the same about that though- obviously. LOL

Hi all
Just thought I would join you all. This will be our very first cruise and we can't wait!!!! :goodvibes
It will be me, DH, DD-9, DD-6. DS-4, and my DM and DF. We are joining two other families (with DD's of 8,5 and 3)
Looks like this cruise ship is going to be hopping

We just feel like once we paid in full (a couple months ago) it's one disappointment after another.

When I read your posts about your disappointments, I can't help but think you might be happier waiting a while to take your cruise. Cozumel should be fully operational again, given a little more time. Piers, scuba diving, dolphins, the works. DCL would let you cancel with no penalty as long as we are more than 90 days out, and rebook for a year from now. I think you'd even get to keep your early booking discount. Just a thought.
