Only my family calls me Kiki to my face, but if it makes life easier for you... go ahead... (My nephew bestowed the name on me when he was a baby... he's graduating from HS next week, but the name still lingers at family functions...)

Ah, yes. Those dreaded childhood names. Mine is Gunka. Seems I couldn't pronounce my own name when I was just a tot so I named myself Gunka. I still get birthday cards in the mail addressed to "Gunka."

GENERAL SCUBA QUESTIONS - I was interested in the post on Cruise Scuba certifications and have a follow-up one. Of course, I could research this my self, but why, when we have such experts on this board (ok - did I butter you guys up enough).

DH and I were enjoying a glass of wine with friends and started talking about diving. We used to dive, but haven't for a while.....I thought dive certifications expired......????? Do they????

We attached the "secret" spots in our home and found our Certifications....

Now, we would not want to jump in the water for a cruise without testing first, suggestions?????

You definitely ought to join us for dives in both Cozumel and Costa Maya!! Right now we have four divers, and if you both join us it would enough for a small 6-pack boat, which is used in those areas. We could call it the DIS Divers Charter boat!!

Your certification does not expire, but you should DEFINITELY do a Skills Update class. This will include a mini class, watch a video and then a pool session to go over all the basic skills you covered in your OW class. I actually did three of these before our vacation.

Alicia and I saw this very thing when we did dives during a Celebrity cruise a couple of years ago. We had a table mate that hadn't dove in lots of years and decided that he would dive in Roatan. Long story, short; He never got under because he had a cheapie mask and a beard and the mask leaked badly. If he had done an update, this would have become evident and thus correctable.

BTW, what agency are you guys certified with? You don't have your location on your profile, where do you guys live?

Ah, this afternoon I'll be busy taking the car in and running around in a rental (kids are hoping for a convertable again)

And this evening I'm hoping to watch one of MY netflix movies---not another Star Wars movie!!!

My cross stitch floss arrived in the mail, so I'd like to watch a movie looking out of the top of my head (as I'm stitching) Last night I had run out of all the colors I needed and I actually had to sit and WATCH Star Wars episode I. Wow, the battle scenes are a lot different when you actually SEE what's going on!
