Can't wait for Ohminnie and family to get home. I'm waiting for.....the rest of the story......

Happy Friday to everyone! Seems like everyone is gearing up for vacation mode. Hope everyone currently on vacation is having fun and safe travels to those getting ready to leave. Hard to believe that it's almost a year since we cruised.

Bruce's sister called the other night. They invited us to go on a cruise out of New Orleans with them. They are trying to make it a family cruise. They even offered to foot part of the bill! The bad thing is that they pick Mardi Gras week of '08. We can't pull Emily out of school for a week. Sometimes his family just doesn't think. Stacey, it's NCL Spirit. Is that the one you went on recently?

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Irene, I'll be saying a prayer that you have calm seas. None of this ... .

Sea World was wonderful the shows and our favorite, the preshow to Seamore and Clyde...the mime! What a funny guy! We were able to go to the Brewmasters tasting. Thank you for recommending it, ScubaJim.

Glad that you had a great time at Sea World... granted, I may be partial... but it IS my favorite theme park.... Its great to hear that you enjoyed the Brewmaster's tasting... when they changed formats on it, we were the 'guinea pigs' before they went live with it.

I just came back from St. Louis. I really wanted to go up in the Arch, as my dad's company made the steel that its made of, but there just wasn't time. (even though our hotel was literally across the street from it.). Oh well... I've got to go back there in 3 weeks for a project I've been asked to work on, so maybe I'll get a chance then.

Ate at some WONDERFUL restaurants, as usual for these meetings...Charlie Gitto's on the Hill (Italian), and Dierdorf & Hart's (Steak)... I should have WALKED home from St. Louis instead of flying... might have burned off some of what I ate.

We also went to Grant's Farm, which is where the Clydesdales are bred and raised, and where U.S. Grant's cabin is. Really cool place for family time if you are ever in St. Louis... lots of animals and history, and best of all, its FREE. We got the 'behind the scenes tour', as we were there after hours, and got to spend some time with a 1-week old Clydesdale... I'll post his photo a bit later... he's so cute!!!

Kiki, very cool about the arch and your Dad's company. When was the arch built?

We need to plan a trip to Sea World and Universal next time we can do a long trip. We haven't been over there in about 5-6 years, we had APs for both. Maybe 2009, after graduation? LOL Things are getting kind of busy. Problem with Universal is I feel like we HAVE to stay onsite. We did that a couple of times and got majorly spoiled with the front of line thing.

I do have a notion to go to F&W in 2008. Maybe Alicia can miss a few days of school again, her school is not very hard core with their seniors it seems. That will be four years since our last F&W trip, seems long enough to me.

Angie, an invitation for a partially paid cruise is very tempting! What grade will Emily be in? It's much easier to pull them out when they are younger to travel off season. We still talk about our trip to WDW in Sept. 2001 because there were NO LINES!

Adopted Brother made it here yesterday so at least we have a house sitter....

Work is way to busy at the moment for me to get caught up and leave early....

And of course, I am going on a "cruise" so I did need to (white type - ladies only)

Have a manicure and pedicure yesterday, after all, pampering is part of a cruise, right? ,

even if it is a live aboard. right ladies....

And according to Sir Scuba, I don't have much to pack anyway...Sam packs the dive gear...but I have to check it.

And I did buy a new dress (ladies only) After all, it is a vacation, and the dress is a long-sleeve t-shirt type to slip on over a B-suit...I am not strolling the deck 24/7 is a bathing suit - no way!!!!

But I shall leave the high heels at home

Seeing as I do not own any.....

OK, let's see...It is time for lunch, that must be it is noon....

We were on the Sun. My heart still belongs to DCL, but it's fun to do other ships.
And you're right....what a stupid week to pick. (no offense to the relatives I haven't met!) I wouldn't go anywhere near New Orleans around Mardi Gras. What a zoo!

I didn't know that they produced the steel for the arch til I mentioned to my dad that I was going there... just one of those weird facts...

Remember, all of the relatives live within a 2 hour radius of New Orleans. So, going on a Mardi Gras week is "getting out of dodge" for them. We have no problem going to N.O. during Mardi Gras. Besides, their kids have off that week. We don't have that luxury.

Diana, you asked ... Emily will be in 2nd grade next year. I guess since I grew up with 2 parents as educators so it's hard for me to pull kids out of school. But, with someone willing to give $1K toward a cruise ... that's hard to pass up!
