Yup. I think MY kids learned MUCH more on our vacation to D.C. than ANY student who went with their entire 8th grade class and used the week as a social gathering. It was really sad to see this big group of students on a tour all talking with one another while a tour guide was telling them about this or that.

One of the main reasons we considered home schooling! You can take them out whenever you want! But we have quit doing it. We found out in 7th grade that she can't get back on track if we take her out for a week. Learning is never the problem, it's catching up on all the busy work that kills her.

Well, I think Jim styles the tux. He doesn't have to haul it cross country. If you want to change table mates that night, we will understand. ;) The jacket for Palo was the deciding factor, the suit is multi-purpose. Of course, your guys WILL be looking good, doesn't that count?

I've told her that I wanted to name her Lacey, but Dad wouldn't hear of it. But we usually call her Alicia, Leeshie is an endearment.

Kind of like Beanie......

Jay & Jared aren't too concerned. They wore their tuxes on the Mexican Riviera cruise and my Dad didn't even wear a tie. Jared even wore his tux on semi-formal night. He loves wearing it.

Yea! DVD party!! Do they get to keep the trophies, or does the studio? Who has to make the costumes?

VERY CUTE!!

We bought the costumes, (are you kidding me?). I think it's bad enough when I have to alter them. The studio has the trophies, though I covet that "Entertainment Award" plaque.

It's NOT going WRONG. It's just taking its own time. You are just too used to being IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING. Let go...this one is outta your hands.

LYMI

Well, off to piano lessons. Day change b/c tomorrow the kids were invited to the science center by some friends (unfortunately, I need to stay with them b/c it's ONLY the kids going, the parents are out of town and have left the entire family in the charge of the 17 yr old--I'm not leaving my kids!!!)

catch ya later! :)

Is that what you pay for private school? Wow. The schools around here are all in the $13K range. But yeah, totally agree. She's not exactly a truancy case.

Yes - we're lucky at the cost.... but when we were in Wheeling - it was that much for preschool..... I think I paid for a college education in her 6 years at Mt. DeChantal....but it obviously prepared her well.... but I wish that her teachers realized that what makes our kids, our kids, is the experiences that they gain in life, not only in school. I do realize that it is hard to do that when there are many kids, and all cannot afford to do so, but we're not asking for anything special, just give us the assignments as they are given and Lauren will make up the work.

So, has he tried it on lately? As much as he's grown, I'm amazed it still fits. Maybe it's a Magic Tux, kind of like that Jackie Chan movie?

Well, the logic is, only THEY can educate your children. After all, they are PROFESSIONALS.
We get that a lot as homeschoolers---what? you can't teach them, you aren't a certified teacher!!!
But from the time they are born until school age don't we teach them? To talk, to walk, to sing the alphabet, to recognize colors, etc? Why not continue that...just with different material??
Besides, you don't LEARN the material when you go through college to become a teacher.....what you learn is crowd control, and things like that!! :)

You know that I'm usually a very shy, quiet person.......
But I've had this little conversation with the schools before. Even though ours are in public school, I've reminded them that it's our tax $$ that pays their salaries. Told them that if they didn't like the way I do things with MY kids, I would easily take them out of public school and place them in private. The bad part is that I still am paying taxes for the public...but at least the school's numbers would be reduced. Sometimes I think that's all they care about...how their numbers look to the government.

Well... lets see... its supposed to be whichever regular poster has NOT received their cruise docs yet... so that would be.... YOU!

No really, we sure wish you could cruise with us!!

Stacey's right about the control thing... but I'm sure I'd be the same way if I were in your shoes... no, I'd probably be a screaming lunatic on the phone with the insurance company until I got my way... but that's the way I am...

Take care of yourself- and enjoy your time at WDW... we've ordered up more beautiful weather for you!

A U-TOP with GaRry, King of pixiedust:

Did you get the shirt for the skirt? I did not care for the shirt so I got a brown tank shirt. I was going to pick up a beaded neckless but decided that I need to leave something so I can shop when we get there!

At Christmas ('04) the pants were waaaay too long, and the jacket hung. I was just hoping then that no one would notice. Now the jacket fits perfectly, but yes, the pants are a little short.

Sshhhh.....let's all pretend we don't notice......:rolleyes1

I have to run now, too. Jared has an eye doc appointment.

Jordan has her first practice with the school's dance squad today....no cheer this year (yea!).....she always has liked dance better.

And Jared's rained-out game from last night is tonight.

I just knew I should have packed last weekend.
