What to expect? When do they decorate? Do they keep them up or are they only up for one day? What is the best park to go to?

I can't remember the decorations. (it's been a few years) but I do remember it was CROWDED very, very crowded and very, very hot, but mostly very CROWDED. I believe they had closed MK by 10 am.

It has been years since we went then. Thank God! Growing up, we went every other year the week of July 4. Crowded, hot, miserable! But they DO have an even more awesome fireworks show that night. (Usually at MK). Never really even noticed the decorations.

I have to agree. I have been to Disney one time on July 4. It was absolutely miserable. It was horribly hot and so crowded you couldn't enjoy anything.

You get a free backlot tour upon leaving. lol

It gets soooo crowded, that they open the service exits around main street to accommodate guests leaving.

4th of July Fireworks in the Park are like my wedding day. It was the greatest experience that i never want to repeat. :)

We were there until July 3rd last year, checking out on the 4th. I don't remember seeing any 4th of July decorations.. I think there are special fireworks on the 4th (and maybe the 3rd...sorry I don't remember!).

Crowds really weren't bad the 1st-3rd. I had expected a lot worse, but we were able to ride a lot of rides...TONS in the first few hours of the day. I think there is a flood of locals coming to Disney just on the 4th for fireworks.

We've been over the 4th (and are going again this year) - we've never had a horrible time. I don't think they really decorate, but do have a great fireworks show at MK, and at Epcot. There's plenty of indoor type activity to do during the day if the heat is just too much. The crowds are big, but we really only notice it during the fireworks, and it does take longer to get out of the park at the end of the night. I'd say if you absolutely hate crowds and have no patience at all, it's not the time to go. However, if you're a happy go lucky person and don't mind taking things slow it's not so bad.
