4th of July weekend at Disneyland

I know this date will be crowded, but my question is, Do they do anything special at DL for the fourth of July?

On the 4th itself, they do a special 4th of July fireworks show. This is in addition to the regular fireworks show.

I went to DL in 97 for 4th of July. It was a long weekend. I remember that the park opened really early, and we hit the rides we wanted on early, went back to the hotel, swam and then returned for dinner and just enjoying the night. The afternoon was really crowded, but we just went with the flow. The fireworks were good, they added a patriotic theme to them.

We will be there 4th July this year, if we go in the morning then go back to the hotel to relax by the pool for a while, will we get back into Disneyland at night or will it have closed the gates due to being full?

The 4th of July is one of those days where the expert advice is get there early and don't leave. It's one of the busiest days of the year and if you leave, you do run the risk of not getting back in.

Thanks Iceskatejen, thats what I thought, will just need to make sure the kids get a good nights sleep the night before then they can last the whole day.
