Sorry. If you were expecting to see shots, I wasn't there. :(

There in 12 days though! :cool1:

Anybody got any shots of the fireworks this year that they'd be willing to share?

Thanks!

I was there but didn't even take a tripod into that mess. We did good to find a decent spot for viewing at MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th. I'm interested in seeing what ethers got though.

I can't believe no one has posted any yet. I tend not to shoot a lot of fireworks at WDW because its not my thing. I don't have the patience to set up as far in advance as it requires, we're the scramble for a place to watch at the last minute kind of people. And there's always so much great work here on the disboards of the shows to enjoy that I'm never worried about not being able to see great shots later.

I didn't see a lot of tripods setup at MK on the 3rd. There was a guy set up near the flagpole with 2 cameras, sitting on a ladder so his shot was above the crowd, but that was the only one I saw. Though we ended up behind the castle by the time the show started so there could have been others set up down Main Street. I didn't see anyone setup on the 4th at Epcot and we were in a good location in Japan but again, in those massive crowds I could have missed those who were setup. It was also raining on and off both days and I wonder if that kept more people from setting up.

These technically aren't fourth of July photos, as they were taken on July 3rd at Magic Kingdom.

The story behind these photos is not that I was looking for a distinctly American foreground like the train station, but rather that my "quick nap" turned into a 3-hour nap. I was in a bit of a panic as to where I was going to set up, as my MeFoto backpacker tripod is not that tall. It was just half an hour before the fireworks, and Main Street was going to be packed. Even if I could find a vacant spot on a bridge somewhere, it was unlikely that I'd be able to fight the crowds on Main Street. Ideally, I would have liked to shoot from on top of the train station, but I knew that domain was probably taken by other photographers who did not oversleep. On the monorail to MK, I realized that I could probably shoot the fireworks from outside of the park, over the train station. Unfortunately, my vantage point was a little low, and I wish the fireworks were higher above the station. However, the good thing about the Celebrate America fireworks is that the show is also shot over the Seven Seas Lagoon, so I was able to watch the show behind me, as well.

Nice shots! I like the different view than the standard castle shots.

We also watched from MK on the 3rd. I took these from the 12 Floor Lounge balcony at the Contemporary on July 4th (with someone's toddler hanging onto my tripod :furious: so these are the only ones I salvaged).

I wish I'd had a wider lens with me because I missed everything out to the left of the frame.

I shot Illuminations on the Fourth of July, and I almost didn't get a spot along the railing. I ended up being behind one of the high solid walls at the France Pavilion.

And I was not prepared for the grand finale...
