4th of July in LA/ Orange county or surrounding area?

Are there any special events that go on annually around Anaheim or LA? I will be at DLR for the week of the 4th, I would like to avoid the park that day, but my mom wants to do something special to celebrate the 4th besides lounging at a pool all day. She will insist we tackle the high crowds at DLR unless I can come up with a better idea, so can anyone help me out?

Only because DL has a special FW show on the 4th would I be tempted to go to the parks that day. I semi agree, it could be super crowded, but maybe not as bad as any other year since it falls midweek.

It does but if you understand my mom, she needs to be in the festivities, so hanging at the hotel will not be the same. I was wondering if maybe a beach somewhere does fireworks. We will have a car, so would be willing to drive somewhere other then Aneheim

I understand what you are saying.

You might try posting this on either of these two threads. They both don't get as much traffic as the community room, but more SoCal locals will see your post.

I live in Huntington Beach. We have a 5k, a parade, events on the sand during the afternoon, and fireworks off the pier at night. Still lots of people, no matter where you go. http://www.hb4thofjuly.org/
