4th of July Fireworks from the Boardwalk?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you are on the Boardwalk on 7/4 you can see a lot of the fireworks from both the Epcot and the Studios July 4th shows. Does anyone have any experience doing this? I was thinking dinner at Beaches & Cream that evening followed by an evening exploring the Boardwalk before watching the fireworks there sounded like a good plan for someone who does not want to be actually inside a park that day.

You can see some of the fireworks, moreso at Epcot than DHS. Although you CAN see them ... that is not the same as enjoying them. :)

We've been the last few years over the 4th and there really is no comparison between being in the parks and watching from outside.

We've watch the MK ones from Poly & GF after dinner reservations at both and at least they pipe in the music so you get more of a show.

Watched Epcot fireworks from the bridge between BC & BW and while you can see the big ones as they go up, you miss the normal Illuminations and it was difficult to hear the music from inside the park.

And for DHS, you could see a few of them but it wasn't too much of a show. Just some fireworks going off in the distance. They also conflicted a bit with the ones from Epcot.

If you enjoy just watching fireworks at home where they aren't really part of a show you would probably enjoy just fine. But after seeing the ones inside MK & especially Epcot (plus DHS on NYE), I was not to thrilled to be watching from the bridge.

If you have the ability to go into Epcot, you should give it a try ... it really is amazing to see. If not, I think your plan will work out well. They also have a DJ on the lawn at the Boardwalk to liven it up a bit.

Thanks! We will not have park tickets after 7/2 so our plan was just to relax on the 3rd and 4th. We don't want to buy 1 day tickets just to watch the fireworks. We plan to watch the MK fireworks on the 3rd from the Poly beach or somewhere and then this plan for the 4th. We know it won't be as spectacular but being able to see some fireworks is just a bonus to what we hope is a somewhat relaxing final night of our trip before making the long drive home.

We got into town on the 4th this year, and watched fireworks from the beach of the Yacht and Beach Club. They were showing Wreck It Ralph as it got dark, so the kids were happily occupied. However, the movie was not paused when the fireworks started, so our kids were torn between fireworks and Ralph. Tough call.

As mentioned earlier, the views are not perfect, but its also not as much of a madhouse as I have seen in previous years at the MK resorts.

You don't see much of the Illuminations (Epcot) show itself, but the tag at the end is big and loud, and well within your view. Some members of our group liked that piece better than the entirety of the show at MK. To each their own, as always.

If you wanted the option of being inside Epcot to watch the fireworks, adding days to your tickets is relatively inexpensive. :)

Not an option in our situation. We are using the remaining days on our 10 day no expiration tickets this trip that we bought in 2011. Cannot add any more days to them and we don't want to pay the $$$$ to buy new ones this trip.

Thanks for the info. I think it may be a good fit for us. We can hopefully avoid the mega-crowds and I love that there is a lot of other entertainment going on in that area that evening.

Right, in that situation you can't add days. :(

You won't see much from the Boardwalk itself. Maybe walk over to one of the bridges (the one across from the Beach Club or the one across from the Swolphin). You can hear the music (it's harder to hear from back by the Swolphin), and you can see the fireworks in the sky. What you can't see is the action that takes place with the globe on the lagoon. That leaves a gap of several minutes in the middle of the show, while everyone in the park is watching the globe.
