4th of July - Fireworks? and More?

Is the fireworks for the 4th anything special or is it just the same as every other show they put on? Any ideas what time they go off in years past?

Also, I know it being a holiday it will be crowded but has the park ever been closed down because of high capacity on the 4th? Would I be able to hop from DCA over to DL for the show or take an afternoon break or would I risk not being able to get back in if I did it this way?

We'll be there for the 4th for the first time this year and I have the same questions as you do. I've heard it's VERY crowded and am worried I may have chosen the wrong time to go.

We visited last year for the 4th of July weekend ~ we had a fantastic time and I'd go again no problem *so long as APs are blocked* crowds were minimal except the evening hours of the 4th ~ our dates were 7/3-7/6 they do the special 4th of July fireworks on the 3rd as well *I wish we would've seen them then - instead we saw WOC The first few hours of the mornings were wonderful.

~ IMO non locals think DLR would be too crowded so they wouldn't visit *they also may want to spend the time with extended family/friends* we also visited DLR for Thanksgiving last year ~ our days were T Day, Fri & Sat - again it was a great visit, crowds were not a problem.

The fireworks during 4th of July around those dates is called "A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky". This is a special 4th of July fireworks show during 4th of July week. Last year in 2010, they showed the fireworks shows two other days than on July 4th. I would assume that DL would do that fireworks around 4th of July. During the summer, they will show Magical fireworks. They showed it on July 2 & 3. During last years schedule, the fireworks started at 9:25pm. I would assume that the fireworks would start at 9:30 for this year.
