We just made plans to go down after my boys finish at a swim camp in FL. What are the crowds like that week? I was thinking maybe the parks will be open later, but I can't get any times past May. What time do they close the parks if they are full? Before 10? 11? How often does that happen? We are staying at the Doubletree, not on site, so we need to worry about being closed out.

Thanks for all the help!

From what I hear, 4th of July is the busiest time of year with the exception of Christmas Day and Christmas Eve (or New Years). As far as when parks close, there will be a park hours listing in a few days on DisneyWorld.com. I don't know any specifics though, sorry.

Parks will be open later, they will be very crowded & on the 4th, if you do not get there early, you may not get in... sorry to give you the bad news... if you still want to go..just remember what to expect...oh and on top of that...there will be the afternoon thunderstorms... some of the park may clear out for that...so dont' leave during it. Put on poncho's and take advantage of it... as long as there is no lightning... :umbrella: :cool2: :boat:

July's hours will probably not be out until May... here's a link to the hours for last July

I don't think there is any set time they close the parks, just when they're full. I think that mainly happens at MK, I would just try to get there as close to opening as possible and plan on spending the day there

Oh yeah, you're right. For some odd reason I'm thinking about April. Don't know why. I guess I'm anticipating my vacation in late July.. Whoops :confused3

We were there for the 4th of July last year....we always go during the summer months, but I have NEVER seen it so packed before. :earseek: It definitely closed due to capacity pretty early on in the day.

I would plan on getting to the MK first thing in the morning and just making a day of it there. Don't plan on getting a lot of rides in cause the lines are extremely long.....just take your time, pace yourself and make sure you stake out a spot LONG before the fireworks. It was so sad to watch people walk back and forth just trying to find a place to stand to watch the fireworks.

However, I will say the fireworks were great! But just expect it to be crazy.

The rest of the week was crowded but not scary insane like the 4th......

That being said, I won't be going back for the 4th again.

I was there furing the 4th last year also. I will never do it again- but the week before was regular summer crowds, it just started getting worse and worse starting about 3-4 days before 7/4. Suggegstion- don't even bother going into the parks that day. Relax at the hotel, do some shopping at DTD or maybe resort hopping. I say that I'll never go in the summer again but I don't have kids yet so who knows! But if I'm ever there at that time of year I'm skipping the parks on 7/4... the fireworks weren't any better than the regular ones, and you can see them from other places anyway.

Usualy I always like DW, the wife always seems to put it on her list every 3 years or so, but I never had such a bad experience as last 4th of July.

Hot... I know it's July, but I wasn't expecting it this bad
Hot Hot... Tempers were flaring amoung the crouds to see the parade and the fire works. I'm a big man, about 250#'s and I was being shoved left and right. To make matters worse I couldn't communicate with those doing the pushing because most didn't speak english.

Well we are headed off to DW again, but this time it's in April.

I was there last 4th and agree with the others, either get to MK very very early or stay completely away from it. Of course, that said we'll be there this year June 27 - July 5th :confused3 . Unfortunately, it's one of the only times I can get away from work while the kids are out of school. Hey I'll fight the crowds :crowded: to get to see the mouse. :earboy2:

See ya there.
