We are in the process of planning our next trip to the Fort and trying to decide on when to go in 2010. We are considering going the last week of June through the July 5, 2010. How crazy are the parks during the 4th of July? I know the temperatures will be very hot (we live in Florida) but are the crowds as heavy as Christmas, New Year's, Easter and Thanksgiving? We have been to Disney during all of the holidays. Also, what are the 4th of July activities and events at the Fort?

If you cruise on over to the Theme Parks board and run a search, you'll turn up all kinds of threads talking about insane crowds, possibly 2nd only to Christmas week, and park closures being common. :scared1:

Most recommendations are to get to the parks before open, have a solid touring plan and use FP. :thumbsup2

We stayed at FtW for two weeks around 4th of July a couple of years ago. We made the 4th a FtW day! We joined in the annual golf cart/bike parade. Lots of folks decorated their personal and rental golf carts and bikes. Even the CMs got involved. Just like at Christmas, there were people who went overboard on their decorations. One older couple, who won a prize, dressed up in colonial garb, played patriotic music from a boom box, handed out candy to the onlookers along the parade route and of course had a totally over the top decorated cart. It was like being in our own Rose Parade. We felt like royalty as we waved to the crowds and stopped briefly at the judges table set up at the main intersection just before the Meadows. The route ran from the unhitch areas all the way to Pioneer Hall where there was a final awards ceremony. It was so much fun. Later on we BBQ'd, hit the pool, the campfire show and ended the evening watching fireworks from the beach.

It sounds like a lot of fun at the Fort on the 4th of July. If we decide to go we will stay at the Fort on the 4th.
