Hi all,

I've got 44 days to go until our long awaited trip. On arrival at work this morning I find out I'm one of 25 people who won't have a job in 3 weeks time.

Friends and family have advised me to cancel trip and get my money back, in case I can't find another job before I go. I was taking my niece with me and I discussed it with her and she will go along with whatever I decide.

My sensible head says to cancel and rebook for next year - But my heart wants to go. I've spoken to my travel agents and they have advised me to let them know my decision asap. I'm in a tizzy trying to make a decision, the thought of not going is depressing me.

Can anyone offer some advice please.

Thanks - Maureen4200040

Well, this may be reckless, but I would go and enjoy yourself. It's so close now. Worry about getting a job when you get back.

Absolutely! Go and enjoy yourself. Forget about "real life" -- leave it for when you return. :sunny:

Good Luck for finding a new job....and sorry to hear of the bad news :(

Oh I am so sorry to hear your news

What ever you decide to do will be for the best.

If you know you can still enjoy your holiday then go, it sounds like you deserve it! Youve got 3 weeks to apply for loads of new jobs and hopefully you will have found something by then.

Good luck! :cheer2:

Go, have a wonderful time and come back full of energy to secure that new job (if you haven't got one by the time you go)

Sorry to hear that.
If you will get some redundancy money then treat yourself and go mad. If not then still go but just be a bit more careful.
Have a great holiday and good luck with getting a new job
Deb ::yes::

Sorry about your bad news.

Trying to be practical, I would say if you can afford not to have a job for a little while, then go, have a great time and worry about it when you get back.

If you know that you won't be able to relax and forget about the job situation, I would cancel and get a refund.

Sorry, not much help I know but only you can make the decision.

However, if it was me, I would still go :)

Good luck with the job hunting, no matter what you decide and, if you decide to go, have a great trip.

I guess it could depend on what part of the country you live and what type of employment you are used to doing.

My friend lost her job a few months before we were due to go to WDW but we live in London and there are plenty of jobs and she got one pretty soon.

I was made redundant a few years ago and by the time my notice was due I left on the Friday and was working the following Monday.

Hope you make the right decision

I am so sorry to hear about your job.

I agree with Mark and Sue - to a certain extent it depends on your type of job - is it something that is readily available? If not are you prepared to take anything to pay the bills? If yes to either then go with a clear conscience. If no then I'd cancel.

I hope you don't have to though. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

So Sorry to hear about this, we too are threatened with redundancies at present.

I say go enjoy it and then start your job hunting if you have not already found work.

Maureen so sorry. I am in the same boat, I've just been made redundant after 19 years, but fxxk it, I'm still going - I suggest you do also.

Life's too short.

It's so refreshing to see everyone's general attitude. I think it's wonderful to see that spirit shining through! I would have to agree - life is too short to not try to enjoy every second.

If it means eg. you can't pay your mortgage and the house would be repossessed, then I can understand the apprehension, but otherwise I would say go for it. Enjoy every minute - it will make you more positive for looking for a new job when you get back, plus when you do get a new job, you don't know when you will be able to take a holiday.

But I am really sorry the edge is being taken off everything by you bad news. I'm sure everything will work out for you. Good luck and :grouphug: !

life is too short go ive known someone who was planing on retireing and leving all the things to do till then retired died a week later like i said life is to short

It would depend on a lot of things. Does your insurance cover losing your job or will you lose a large deposit if you don't go? Will you have enough spending money for while you are out there? Can you afford to live without an income for a number of weeks? Will you get any redundancy pay to tide you over?

My heart says go but my head would stop me.

I'm with the take the chance brigade on this one. Life's such a ***** at times if you don't go and save your money a job won't happen but if you say to hell with it the new job will happen.

You must be going at the same time as us because we go in 45 days. Just this minute paid the balance for our first week on site at ASMO :teeth:

GO!
and enjoy yourself, worry about a job when you get back, sure you'll find one pretty quick.
as has been said, "life is too short" go and see mickey. :flower:

now we enjoy every minute.
