AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Tuesday my back decided it didn't need to function anymore. I went to the doctor and got x-rays. She gave me 3 types of medicine its really doing nothing. I am going to see a chiropractor and see if that will help. Oh my goodness. We are talking a year and a half of planning, six adults four children 7,6,5,3 I am the entertainer of the group..... What the heck am I going to do!!!!!!!!!

Ice packs 20 minutes on 20 minutes off. My husband used to be out for weeks until we started this. He also takes Aleve, per the doc. The ice was also prescribed...didn't just make it up!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is your diagnosis? What to do would greatly depend on it. Some times chiro care is recommended. You may also benefit from physical therapy, aquatic therapy or just rest may be the best. Keep taking your medicine until you discuss with your Dr. as some may need time (even 7-10 days) to build up in your system.

I completely second the Ice, and a good chiro will thoroughly discuss your symptoms, and will decide if he/she should even touch you! Mine made sure not to touch me if he thought I had something he couldn't handle.

He is the one who said that you should ice, not heat your back, because if it is inflammed then you want to reduce the inflammation to make it take pressure off any nerve that might be effected, and makes it much easier to manipulate as much as you can reduce inflamation before even going!

I always got the "carrying a kid around on my hip then try to clean the bathtub thereby pinching a nerve" diagnosis.. I couldnt move when it hit, and a few visits to the chiro and I was good to go!

I did it the last time two days before Disney, and after one visit to the Chiro we left and I was better by trip day two! What also did wonders for me (I have an iron stomach so if you are sensitive at all ignore the following) was Naproxin Sodium (I think that is Aleve, as mentioned before). Good luck

There is a book called "Treat your own back problems" and its GREAT. I have had a back that "goes out" every so often over the past twenty years. I have learned to know the signs that might come right before. There are some tightening exersizes that work! Depending on your own issues of course.
Chiro never helped me. Physical therapists did. Very different kind of treatements. Again depending on your needs/issues. Good luck.

I have a permanently spasmed muscle in my lower back. Mostly it's not a problem but when it clamps down, it squooshes a disc that bulges and sits on a nerve and oh my gosh is that painful!! Sometimes I'm in bed for a day, sometimes for weeks. MY doc recommended FOR ME 800mg ibuprofen, three times a day (max dosage recommended) OR two alleve twice a day. Either have a strong anti-inflammatory effect and helped alot. I also have to stay off my feet until the nerve pain shooting down my leg and out my toe lessens. I had an episode several years ago, early on Tuesday when we were leaving for Disney on Friday morning, just me and DD. I crawled into bed and let DH do the packing  . On Friday he loaded the suitcases into the car. I did curbside checkin at the airport and my BIL met us on the other end of the trip. You know what I learned? Walking and being on my feet was actually helpful! I avoided Dinosaur and the Safari due to bumpiness, but basically I was OK throughout the trip!

I'm not recommending that you take the medication that MY doc recommended for ME:sad2: but am hoping to help you cheer up when you realize that sometimes all this back stuff works out  Good luck!

Oh you poor thing!:sad2:
I am just right now feeling so freaked out. I'm the mommy that crawls around with the kids and sits on the floor and wrestles with my son....ok you get it That's the kind of mom I am and now I feel like I am not that mom and it's making me crazy.
I called Disney and they said they do have access to a chiropractor I just would have to go to the front desk and they would make the arrangements, but what will that cost me?? Anybody ever have to use that before??

Here's hoping the chiropractor will be able to help you!

I was getting up from my office chair a few weeks ago and only made it part way. Couldn't sit, couldn't stand. Not good. Could reach the phone and tried to call a colleague. She wasn't in her office.

I stood there for a good 20 minutes, trying to ease my way down toward my desk drawer so I could pull out my purse and take some pain reliever. Took another 10 minutes to manage that feat! Then called the chiropractor and left a message to see if they could work me in the following day (they did) and walked around the office building for another 30 minutes until the pain eased a bit.

Talk about embarrassing! *LOL*

Fingers crossed for you!

Total bummer! My back just went out a few weeks ago - DH is a pharmacist thankfully and gave me some meds until the pain went away. I second the chiropractor advise, after I was in an acident a few years ago, I got pretty messed up, and that was the only thing that helped me. To bad he has since retired! Good luck, and no matter what, enjoy Disney, even if you have to be pushed around it for a while!

my aunt throw her back out 4 hours beore we left in february!!!

she was fine all trip so it's going to be no biggie in 44 days, it won't even hurt anymore
