Cast:
Me, Mom, 43, disneyaholic and frequent visitor. Very commando.
DS 14, likes to roll his eyes a lot at Mom and her obsession (but has fun joining her... sometimes)
DS 10... Usually up for anything, but HATES waits.
So we arrive at AKL around 5ish in the afternoon Monday, March 7th. It is my third visit there, always with a savanah view, but never THE savanah. This time I score big. I get arusha savanah, 2nd floor, furthest building from the lobby. (rm 2373) Oh my gosh! This is a completely different experience than the other savanahs. There are zebras, and giraffe, and all those cute deer like creatures less than 30 FEET from our balcony. No views of people pens or fences. I was afraid the kids were too "teen and preteen" to enjoy the animals, but they spent a great deal of time watching them and using the identification guides. So cool!
Being the nutty obsessive person I am, we throw down our luggage, violate all the rules to enjoying Disney and rush to Magic Kingdom. Of course it is packed, fast pass times around 9, and a zoo! (Not to be confused with Natazu!)There was actually a family camped out on Main Street waiting for the 8 p.m. spectro... it was 5:45. Now that is determination. We rode a couple favorites (HM, Pirates, Thunder Mountain) and then return to AKL to enjoy the ambiance. Dinner was at Pecos Bills, and although later in the week we learned how romantic and sexy this place is, we did not know this as yet....
We fell asleep early to the soothing wooshes of flushing toilets and the click click click of the animals in the savanah. Teen moment today... DS 14 is to wear rubber bands on his braces when sleeping... "Honey, I think you forgot to put in your rubber bands", says I. "I guess I am going to hell" he replies and rolls over and goes to sleep.
