41 min. layover at DFW - too short for A to C?

Our best flight times and fares are on AA through DFW. We'll probably have to get from terminal A to C. Is 41 minutes enough time? The difference is $78 x 4 tickets, so the savings this ways is pretty considerable ($242 AA each vs $319 Delta thru Atlanta).

I know the TRAAIN at DFW has a habit of breaking down, and I wouldn't want to get caught on it. Would we have enough time if we have to walk/run from A to C? Anyone know?

It's doable, but it will be tight -- you won't have much room for flight delay issues. American offers golf cart terminal transit at DFW for persons who are in a rush to make a connection. There is also a walkway between the two terminals that has a mechanical treadmat to speed you along.

If you arrive in the second half of Terminal A and depart from the first half of Terminal C, you should be able to walk it without any problem at all.

Also, DFW is about to replace the outmoded TRAAIN system with a new state-of-the-art transit train system that runs both ways between the terminals. Last I heard, the new trains will be up and running some time in May.

JeffPort - thanks. We were worried that it would be to tight if there was even a short delay. We aren't going until October, so if the new Traain is running in May, we should be okay. They should have any bugs worked out by then. I hope! :)

Fly AA and get same day service!

41 minutes is plenty of time to go from anywhere AA to anywhere else AA at DFW. I have flown through DFW dozens of times recently and have never had a problem with the TRAAIN. Sure it's clunky, but it always runs fine for me, and the new system is coming up soon.

And...worse case scenario...if your inbound flight is late and you miss your scheduled flight (which could happen at ATL on Delta as well) you will just catch a later flight. I just did a quick check on AA.com and it looks like they have at least 10 daily DFW-MCO flights. If all else fails, they'll send you DFW-MIA-MCO and there are dozens of options for that.

Don't worry, AA will get you there.

Sorry, but I don't agree... That train is the MOST unreliable thing out there for airport transport. The new one has got to be better. (It also makes me sick to my stomach and I can ride Mission Space with NO problems LOL!)

Personally I can do this connection just about anyplace but DFW. That airport is great if you are going to Dallas but HORRID for connections. If the new tram is not running this will be REALLY tight. Do NOT under any conditions stop for anything. Get off the plane and go to the next gate. Then if you have time, go get food, tour the bathrooms etc....
