40th birthday party ideas

My DH's 40th birthday is coming up in Feb. (yes I like to plan ahead) I would like to plan something really special but I am having a hard time coming up with a theme. I thought I had something. He likes trains and there is a train museum in town that runs a train that can be rented for parties. I called and they told me that in the winter they have a hard time starting the engine so they don't rent in the winter. I then thought about doing a 40 1/2 birthday party in July of next year. But I am not sure if it sounds too goofy or not. He took me to Hawaii for my 40th so I need to do something nice. Ideas?

Good thing that you like to plan ahead! For my DS's 40th surprise birthday party, we gathered up all her friends and neighbors, even a few from out of state, and just had a fun night. Nothing really special planned, though. We had drinks, food and cake. It lasted till well over midnight. I hope whatever you do you have fun planning it!
