40% off code (card) arrived NOT too late!

Just received the 40% off card in the mail yesterday with the PIN. However, DH already paid in full last week (our due date was Nov 22) - we will stay at Grand Floridian resort for 3 nights in Jan 2009, with Magic Your Way plus Deluxe Dining package.

Thanks to all DIS members, I called Disney this eve (see below) to see if any possible adjustments can be made. Unfortunately the CM claimed that the code CANNOT be applied to packages (we have MYW + Dining), and we are already in the 45-day window.

Nope. Call and give them the code. They will adjust it and you will have a room credit on your card. Than you can use that for souvenirs. Same thing happened to us. I have a $430 U.S. credit waiting for us.

Oh and if you don't use it all while you are at the resort than they will credit the remaining amount back to your credit card upon check out.

Did they send/email you a revised invoice?
I will call Disney and give a try, but this is too good to be true for us (of course I wish this is true), because:

1. we have paid in full last week since our due date was Nov 22. Now we are within that 45-day window.

2. we booked a package (Magic Your Way + Deluxe Dining) for 3 nights. I am not sure if the 40% off only applies to room-only ressie at value resort?

Doesn't matter. They only charge you a $50 change fee. If you have a 40% off PIN, the savings will FAR outweigh that anyhow. So, as already mentioned, you'll get a credit back to your card.

The 40% PIN applys to ALL Disney properties!

I had a 40% pin and used it for a Magic your way package (no dining, just tix and room) at the Grand Floridian. The discount was applied to the room portion of the package. Hopefully you had a chance to call and get a credit applied. Hopefully there are still discount room available at your resort too! It was my understanding that they only allot certain # of rooms for the discount.

Just off the phone with Disney.....unfortunately the CM said my PIN is only valid for room-only reservation and cannot apply to my ressie because we have dining plan package. I do not understand....did anyone have a similar situation?

Not sure what the apple-to-apple comparisons are but what if you cancel the reservation you have-take the $100 loss, rebook using the 40% disc. and add the dining plan? Does that make it any cheaper and worth it all? Often with Disney you have to have a calculator handy and do some mathwork working out the options!

Hi everyone (again),

I called Disney (again) this morning. This time I reached a more friendly CM. After pulling out my reservation and I provided the PIN. She explained in details WHY my reservation is not eligible for the 40% off discount. It is nothing to do with 45-day window.

According to the CM, the 40% off code is only applicable to a Room discount. However, it is possible add park tickets to your reservation (but your discount only applied to the room-portion) - the way they do it - they basically book your rooms at discounted and then add park tickets to your reservation - so called a "package". In theory, it is actually like buying your park tickets in person at the ticket booth or at your resort.

Since this "so-called package" is actually a 40% off room-only + standalone purchase of park tickets, thus dining plan cannot be added to the reservation.

Thanks to everyone on the DIS board! We made our last attempt today with DH - after reviewing related threads on the board.

I called Disney the 3rd time (I said to myself - last time - otherwise I just pretend I have never received the PIN) - explained to the CM that we have paid in full, and on the MYW+Dining package - he asked me to hold for 5 mins (probably check with a supervisor or something) and then he said YES - you can apply the PIN to your existing reservation - and now we saved $500/room! He immediately applied the difference (refund) to DH's credit card on file!

Thanks again everyone! Although we are not sure about the discrepancy in knowledge among these CMs, we are so glad to learn for all DIS board members

Whoo-Hoo! That's great! Persistance paid off...

This is one continuous thing that makes me NUTS about Disney! You all too often do not get the same answer twice and many many times I hang up thinking...hmmmm.....I will call back later - and that shouldn't be the case!

Sorry I just saw this now. I could of told you that the first two CM's you spoke with were WRONG and to call back. Yes, the 40% is off of the room portion, but you still have the option of adding tickets and/or dining.

So glad it all work out.

I had also received the 40% in the mail. I had called as I am booked for May 17th. CM told me that I cannot apply it as I am in a Blackout date.
