40% AP Discount - excluded items?

With the new summer AP discounts, it says “discounts not valid on certain items”. I assume this means in addition to alcohol, certain menu items may be excluded from the 40% discount, but when I click to “view the restrictions and exclusions”, it doesn’t give any additional info. Will things like the AYCTE skillet at Boatwright’s and the Chef’s signature dinner at Toledo be excluded? Because those are the things I’m most interested in, so it would be good to know if they won’t be included before making plans to go.

I think we will just have to wait until the 14th to really find out. My truly uninformed guess would be that Boatwrights skillet would be included, if they're not including this would they not include the skillets at Whispering Canyon which is like half the menu. I would be more doubtful on the chef dinner at Toledo because that is already a discounted price, the three items you can but separately total more than the dinner price.
Again those are uninformed guesses. I would maybe book reservations and then wait until news comes out after the deals start. Cancel where appropriate.

The details link to the general AP dining discount page. This gives the impression if it currently gets the AP discount, then it will get the 40% off so that is my expectation going in. To be safe if unsure if something will get the 40% off ask your server before you order.

Sometimes things like tasting flights or souvenir glasses are excluded. Alcohol is the biggest one. Maybe upgrades like lobster tails or wagyu beef might be excluded at some restaurants.

We used the discount at Boatwrights for the AYCE plate. While it was included, it was just OK. Has anyone been able to use the discount on the signature dinner at Toledo?

IMO, Boatwright has always been just OK.
I’ll be at Toledo’s at the end of the month and find out then.

If someone goes to Cape May Cafe in the next few weeks, please check if the add-on crab legs are discounted or not…

Please remember...the 40% off is Monday-Thursday only! We've had so many guests come in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and get very mad when we tell them it's 10% off those nights. Some leave before eating and some take it out on the server.
Man that is going to be such a big issue...
Another reason why they should just done a blanket 20%... make it easy.

I’m perfectly happy trying this eatery on a day when it’s 40% off. Don’t think the offering would have been as enticing at 20% off. YMMV.

Lemme help:
20% off most all Disney TS, everyday of the week (2024)
Vs
40% 5 places, Mon-Thur (2025)

20% of 2024 is obviously more enticing.

Icing on the 2025 cake is “40%” is indeed eye popping- but from the report above people don’t read the fine print so Friday-Sunday frontline CMs get to pay the price for management’s gotcha clause. Dumb promotion all the way around.

Did I miss something? Are you saying for a limited time most Disney TS are 20% off or just as an example?

To be honest, Toledo wasn’t registering to me until they offered the 40% off. I really like Jaleo and doubt if Toledo will live up to it. Still will try it because of the price but doubt the steak dinner will be worthy.. probably a lesser grade of beef if nothing else and since I don’t eat steak out much it has to be superlative. Maybe I’ll have one of the seafood dishes instead 🤷🏽‍♀️

Annual Passholder TS Dining Discount is 10%, not 20%, other than a couple random places.

I think what @gottalovepluto was trying to say is that the 2024 summer discount was 20% at all restaurants, regardless of day, vs this year being 40% at select restaurants from Mon-Thu.

I disagree that the 2024 discount was more enticing though. I wouldn't have bothered to book an ADR for 20% off, while I did book something with the 40% off. I doubt the additional 10% is enough for most people to schedule a meal they weren't already planning on scheduling, which I think is the whole point of this additional discount - get additional ADRs booked.

Fair enough. I booked a couple extra ADRs when I got the extra 10%. Nothing for the extra 30% as I have no interest in the restaurants.

VIPassholder days lol
Okay, it read to me "everyday 2024" as if it were comparing to the regular discount.

Yeah, I booked Hollywood & Vine for DS#1 because he's always wanted to go and I won't pay that. With 40% I was willing to try and ... still got ripped off for Golden Corral food.

In a couple weeks doing Tusker House with DS#2 because he's never been there. Hoping we get better eats there.

He is going with friends in July so they will get good value from Diamond Horseshoe but not sure they will bother with others. Going to resorts is too time consuming for them.
