Should I bother even getting my four-year-old daughter an autograph book? I know she'll want to stand in line for a photo with the characters, but will she be interested in the autographs or should I save that until she's five or six?

our son has had an autograph book since he was 1.

Actually for younger children i think its better. it gives them something to do with the characters.

so, yes, I would say that 4 is absolutely NOT too young!

Not too young at all!!!

My 4 year old has had an autograph book since he was 2 1/2 and he loves it! It gives him a purpose when he talks to the characters and he didn't get nervous when they were new to him.

A few tips: Get your daughter a nametag at the Christmas shop at DTD - many of the characters will personalize the autograph and she'll love recognizing her name. Our son has many "To Max from Your Pal Mickey Mouse" and such in his book and he loves it. I then sign in tiny letters the date and where we were so we can remember later.

Also - get the chubby pen next to the autograph books to make it easier for the characters to sign.

The books aren't too expensive - or you can bring a blank journal book from home - and 4 years old is truly a magical age for WDW, autographs and the characters.

Enjoy!

My sister loved collecting autographs on her first trip when she was three. I think it depends on the kid but if they want to interact with the characters they'll probably want autographs (especially since they'll see most kids getting them)

Bother!!! My ds' at 3 1/2 LOVED them, it was one of their most favorite part of the trip, getting the autographs. We were watching the video's recently and we were cracking up at them, they were so adorable!

Our DD loves the autographs, I agree with SammieG, it gives them a good reason for interaction and something to ask the characters for.

You don't even have to have a Disney one if you don't want to. We got a neat one that was only $12 but it had a pen on it and a photo holder for each page also. It is really cute.

If you don't do it you 4 year old will be fine. However if you want to it can't hurt. DD loves looking at them. One year I cut them up and put them in the photo album scrap book, the rest of the years I just got a Disney book. One book lasted us a few trips and when we ran out of room we just got a new one. I like the ones where the pen stays with it since I am forever searching for the pen in my bag and miss photo opps because of that.

Have fun!

Last year we had our DDs (6 and 3) get T-shirts autographed. I carried them around in a big zip-lock bag with a Sharpie. They love those T-shirts and enjoy showing them off when they wear them!

I bought my four year-old an autograph book because she wanted to be like all the other children, but she was more interested in drawing in it herself than getting autographs. She would draw a picture of the character we were about to meet, and then show it to them... The characters would sign wherever there was some space around her drawings...

In short, dd cared more about interactions with the characters than about autographs which did not mean very much to her.

Were going in a few weeks with DDs aged 4 and 1.5...as of now not planning on autographs. The girls have seen princesses and characters at other events and wanted to just go see them and talk to them (even though they don't talk) and I don't think would be very interested in the autographs right now. Of course, if DD does see everyone with them and has to have one, we'll end up starting a collection on our trip, but I'm not sure if that will happen.

My 4-yr-old LOVED getting autographs. It helped him have polite interaction with the characters too (otherwise, he would have stood there looking awed and hugging them without a word until he was dragged away!). We're starting our 2-yr-old's book this time, though I like the shirt idea!

My 2.5 year old niece LOVED getting autographs and having her book to look at. I would say do one...and as others have said, it's a great way for interaction with the characters, especially if the child is nervous or shy.

My 3 YO and 4 YO both loved getting the autographs. Our 4 YO was definitely more into it, but they both grabbed their autograph books as soon as they saw a character.

One warning....At least get the pens BEFORE you go into the park (and if you can find cheaper autograph books, get them outside the park as well) We forgot...ended up spending $22 for Two autograph books and two Mickey Mouse pens.

Here are some pictures of our kids getting autographs (aka: a way to show off my kids! :rotfl2: )

What a great idea! I'm going to have to try that one! It will probably work better since the toddler didn't pay much attention to his autograph book this past summer. Great idea...thanks!

I think after the first autograph or so she'll be hooked. It will give her a wonderful reminder of her trip and you'll be amazed at what memories those autographs can trigger. Have a wonderful trip!

Our kids have autograph books from every Disney trip, which is pretty much a book shelf full. They enjoy it so much I don't think it would be a Disney trip without the autograph book.

My three year old loved getting autographs. The characters signed every other page so we could put their picture next to the autograph. It is neat to get them every time so we can look at how much they have grown from year to year.

Alright, I'm completely convinced to get the autograph book! Thanks for all of your replies.

Last year I bought a print of Cinderella that came with a mat around it, and I had all the characters sign it at the 1900 Park Fare dinner. This year we're doing CRT, so I am planning on getting a princess poster and having all the gals sign it. Now I will get an autograph book as well.

Thanks again!
