OK everyone, as I just got home and am logging on, I notice across the street my neighbor's kid (4 years old) and his brother (10) are pushing the lawn mower together. Maybe at 10 but 4?

I cannot even fathom my kids doing that this young. Am I too over protective or is this a situation where I can't believe my eyes.

Oh yeah, no adults present at all and both wearing sandals not that sneakers would stop your foot from being chopped off.

Opinions?

how unsafe is that...I would have stuck my nose in it and gone right over there and knocked on the door and said something..might prevent an accident!..never too young to teach safety!

I would go over there and help them out. For the four year old to be doing that without protective shoes is especially dangerous. Find out if they were asked to do it and where their parents are at.

My scary neighbors let their 9 year old daughter who is VERY VERY immature mow the yard yesterday in flip flops.... Today she was riding her scooter bare foot. There is NO way I would allow it.

My dad used to hold me on the lawn mower since I was 3...now I have to do the job myself. I didn't get any limbs chopped off.

Already did, and the father is out there now, but still.

Even 10 is to young.

Lots of times nothing does happen but sometimes pretty bad things happen. When I was a kid my grandfather had a huge long scar on his stomach where the lawnmower had thrown a piece of wire into his stomach.
My 14 yr old mows our lawn and he know to be safe as he can but I dont even let my 4 yr old in the yard when the lawn is being cut.

Yesterday I saw a man on a 4 wheeler with a small child (maybe 4) behind him hanging on, and he was holding an infant (6 mo) and toddler on his lap!

 Survival of the Fittest, eh?

as much as what one thinks is wrong in the world...they can't be a parent to everyone.

sometimes you just have to keep your mouth shut...let the parents be the parents to their children.

Well, in my family an 8 year old little boy (a cousin) lost his life to a lawn mower accident. Yeah, most of the time nothing happens, but do you really want to take the chance? Not in our family. Lawn mowers are not toys.

It seems to me that kids raised like that are least likely to get hurt. Its parents like us, the overprotective ones whose children are more likely to get hurt.
