It will be my spouse, myself, 3 yr old, and 1 yr old. Since the rows are usually 3 across on the plane, I am wondering which seats should I pick. Should I pick one row for myself and the 2 kids on the inside and have hubby on the aisle seat adjacent to us? Any opinions would be great.

Thanks.

I would probably do 2 and 2. That way each of you can deal with one child. And I would probably do one of you in front of the other. That way your 3 year old can kick the 1 year old seat instead of another passenger. ;) :D And then you can hand things back and forth if need be. :)

Or stick Hubby with both kids at the back of the plane. And you can get your own seat in the front. ;) :p :D

I have been going over the same thing. I am considering me with my 2 girls (4 and 1) and DH across the aisle only because I know my 4yo can help entertain my 1yo. But, the DH will get off easy, so I may just go with the 2 and 2 option.

I know I am no help, but just wanted to let you know I am deciding that too :)

We always sit 2 and 2 it just works better for us that way. I pack two separate carryon bags one for DH and his "buddy dd" and one for my and my "buddy dd". This way we have the snacks, books and toys we need for ourselves and the kids without doing the hand it back and forth deal.

Assuming your using the carseats I am pretty sure that only one is allowed per row and only in the window. So you will probably want window and middle each, best to pick the seats that way now rather than having to switch around later.

Another vote for the 2 and 2, we do this all the time and it's great.

We have done 3 and 1 across the aisle because the 2 can sit together and watch the DVD player and share snacks, etc.

We did the 3 and 1 and I was happy with that. They did entertain each other for quite a while. DH ended up with an empty middle seat next to him and DD moved over to visit for a bit while the little one slept. We also had an agreement that if I wanted to swap mid-flight we would, so that I would have alone time too, but instead DD moved to the empty seat with him and I dozed with little one.

I would vote for the 3 and then 1 seats because then if you need to get up with the kids during the flight, you are not disturbing the "stranger" who is sitting on the aisle seat. They do allow 2 car seats in the same row if it is a parent and their 2 kids. That is just my opinion because my ds gets up a lot during flights.

3 and 1 has its high points as does 2 and 2 !! When the kids were younger we liked 3 and 1. Whent the kids were older 2 and 2 was used to keep them apart, LOL. Last time we flew on SouthWest for the first time. We got the seats that face each other and were happy with that. We are going to try that again this trip. :Pinkbounc ::yes:: :bounce:  :yo-yo: :wave2: :hyper:

just returned last week. it was me, dh, ds (2) and my 15yr old niece. we did the 2 and 2 and i'm glad we did! ds kicked my poor niece's seat the entire way home!

Here is what we've done for years... we request the window and aisle seat in two rows (i.e. 7A and 7C in row 7 and 8A and 8C in row 8). If the plane is not full, the middle seats aren't filled and we get extra room. If the plane is full, we offer the aisle seat to the person sitting in the middle and they are immediately grateful. Makes for a good start to a flight either way.
