Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to book a 4-night studio stay in October, checking-in on a Thr and checking-out on a Mon. The problem is that everything is booked for a 4-night stay! I was able to book a 3-night thr-sat stay at SS (standard room) and a 1-night sun stay at OKW. Since we would prefer not to switch resorts just for 1 night, I have put in waitlist requests for the 4th night at SS and for the first 3 nights at OKW. We don't care where we stay, just as long as it's a studio room and we don't have to switch rooms/resorts.

SS has the same dates available for the first 3 nights, but for a preferred studio instead of the standard. My question is, which studio room at SS (standard or preferred), would give us the best chance of getting a waitlist request for the 4th (Sunday) night? Right now it's just up to pure luck that somebody cancels the Sunday night at SS, but are chances better for one type of studio than the other?

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks

You nailed it - just pure luck. It can happen with the smallest category. With SSR both categories are big enough that I'd think the odds should be fine with either of them.

Thanks for the reply, but not the answer I wanted to hear! Any chance you can go back and edit it to make me feel better??? :rotfl2:

Last time I had that issue I booked the unavailable room with cash thru member services and then waitlisted the missing night. When the room became available, I cancelled the cash reservation. However if the room doesn't become available, you at least have four consecutive nights in the same room. Paying cash stinks but it's more convenient not to change rooms on a shorter trip.

Good idea Stinky! I'll have to give them a call to find out what's available and how much for that Sunday night. Wouldn't mind paying $100-$200 oop for the last night if we don't have to switch rooms/resorts, but if it's more than that, than I think I would rather go thru the slight trouble to transfer over to OKW.

Cash night plus point stay does not always mean you don't have to switch rooms. You can request to stay in the same room, but I once had to switch in the same scenario. (same resort, same size room). I would hope you usually can link them and not switch, of course.

Once the new CCV comes online, some will want to change out to those rooms and you will have openings this year. Hopefully for your missing date.
How about trying to get into the new CCV when it becomes available for booking?

The standard section has more buildings, so that's probably a better shot.

OP, I am also looking for 1 night, at BWV but at the front of a reservation for a Saturday night in Oct.

2 weeks ago I found that night but in a garden/pool so I booked it, and left my wait list out there for the Boardwalk view hoping I get it and don't have to switch rooms. At least it will be easy to move after just one night if the wait list doesn't come thru. So I check at least 3 to 4 times a day to see if the Boardwalk view pops up in case it doesn't make it to my wait list. I check all DVC studios and am surprised how many rooms pop in and out for my date, so don't give up hope. Sometimes they are there for a day or more, sometimes gone in a few hours.

Thanks again for all of your comments...I'll definitely be checking CCV when it becomes available.

Patience...!

I would check daily to see if a room opens up, I wouldn't just depend just on a waitlist to fill the spot. I just got a 4 day weekend filled at BWV with a Boardwalk view for Thanksgiving weekend by checking daily (8:45 am). I was lucky.

I just booked AKV jambo studio value for the weekend of oct. 14th. It was open for a whole week. I let my ssr standard studio go back. Op you should check often.

Between scanning the website on your own whenever you can and your waitlist - and the fact that SSR has such large inventory -I'm sure you'll get the one day in no time. :thumbsup2

Congrats! I'm going to call that pure luck.

OP As others have stated, the studios @ SSR tend to be among the last available, your odds are good. Even better if not over the Columbus Day weekend.

Check the website yourself often, don't rely on the WL process.

Just in case anyone is still following...I was able to get the 4 nights at SS. It wasn't easy, but I think I checked 3-5 times a day and was finally able to piece it together. DVC is sure doing a great job at filling up the rooms (and Disney isn't helping our cause by continuously adding more and more events)!

Thanks again for everyones comments!

Well I am glad you got what you wanted because this did not seem realistic.

$300 is more in line with what they want for a studio and even with our discount... It's more than I am paying!
