Hi all

Well, I've just finished writing my first ever triprep from my WDW holiday last year.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2121204

It was fun remembering and the nice dis'ers over there have told me to write up my other reports. So here goes. This trip was actually from September 2007 so I apologise now if I can't remember some things.

Ok, the cast are my friend Jennie and I (excuse my sleepy look but we'd just got to the airport and it was early)

I (on the right as you look) was 31 at the time of this trip and I've been a Disney cast member in the UK for many years. I've also lived in the USA and travelled there quite a bit. Jennie, on the left, was 21 and has never been to the USA or a Disney park before. We've known each other for over six years and she had worked for Disney with me for over three years.

Jennie, at the time of the trip, was studying for her nursing degree. She's just qualified and is now working as a nurse. I was (and am) working for disney, building up my own film production company and teaching at audio post production at Salford University.

I'd always promised Jen that we would go to the USA and this was the culmination of that promise!!!

Hello to the three of you and welcome :cool1:

Right, I should start by saying that this is actually part of a larger trip. My Godkids lived in Las Vegas at the time so we spent 17 days travelling. Disney was day 8 of the trip. By now we had been to Las Vegas.

We were gonna spend best part of five days in the Los Angeles area, four of which were designated to Disney!

Am here can't wait to hear about this adventure.

We got to LA around lunchtime and after a transfer to our Travelodge we literally dropped our bags and headed out. Jennie had been a Disney cast member for several years but had never ever been to a Disney park :scared1: She was desperate to change that fact so we dashed out.

It was only a ten minute walk round the corner to the Disneyland parking lot, where we were able to get the trolley up to the top of DTD and the two parks. The first thing Jennie saw (besides the excitement of the trolley itself :rotfl:) was World of Disney

I love World of Disney and she really wanted to see it so we went in and window shopped for about a forty minutes. Then we finally headed towards the parks themselves.

We actually now have a stone in this area (above). Ours is on the Disneyland side, in the background of this picture (on the side furthest from DTD). We ordered this on our third day at Disney I believe.

Anyway, we already had our Disney tickets, so we entered the park and Jen literally bounced :lmao:

I hadn't been to Disneyland for years but had been in WDW about 18 months previously. Still, I was excited to be there too and very excited to see Jen's reaction to the park. It's nice doing a girls only trip and extra nice when one person is experiencing everything for the first time.

We headed around the corner and Jennie stopped dead as soon as she saw this.

I couldn't stop laughing cause she was just starring at the castle in the distance and I kept saying 'Come on Jen, it gets even better the closer you get'. She was just so happy it was sweet to see and made it extra special for me. I think it's easy to forget how exciting the park can be if you've always dreamed of going but haven't been yet. :cloud9:

A photopass photographer grabbed us and took this photo. Look at our happy faces :rotfl:

We headed up main street - stopping to take photos of course, and to do a little window shopping. Disney turns me into a shopaholic and I'm so not normally :confused3 Is it bad that I saw at least five things I wanted to buy in the first shop?

I love Disneyland - there's something very special about the atmosphere there. I dunno if it's just cause it's the original or because Walt himself walked there but it just feels so magic pixiedust:

One of my favourite things in all of the parks is the partners statue. I just think it sums everything up and I find it amusing that they had a lot of trouble building it simply because they had too, for the first time, work out how big Mickey was! :lmao:

We were stood there taking photos and a photopass photographer grabbed us and took a ton of pics :woohoo:

You can tell how excited we were by the big grins :banana:

Oh, I forgot to say, Jen dressed in red and white to represent Minnie LOL

One of our first priorities for the trip was to try to meet Captain Jack. I'd never met him because he was new to the parks and obviously Jen hadn't either. We had just about enough time to go over to Pirate's Lair (formally Tom Sawyer's Island) so we headed straight for the rafts.

Cimg0745.jpg

Pirate's Lair is a lovely adventure island and it was such a lovely day that we figured it'd be nice even if we didn't see Jack. We timed it well and got the raft with only a few minutes wait.

Cimg0746.jpg

As soon as we got there we asked a CM where Jack would be and they pointed us to the far side of the island. So we headed straight there and look who we found. :cool1:
Img_4138.jpg

The line to see him was only about seven people deep to we waited and watched the interactions. Then it was our turn. He was REALLY good, with lots of guestures and great speech. He even joked with his helper CM that he could stay for a little longer to finish off the line as long as they brought him more rum :lmao:. Here are some photos from the photopass.

Happy we had met him, we said goodbye and wandered off to look around the rest of the island for a bit. We didn't have that long because the last rafts were going soon but we did find ourselves in the caves and ricketty bridges. I highly recommend it to anyone who just wants to have a fun explore. Even without kids it's good because you get to be five again :dance3:

I laughed when I saw the picture of you with Ben Affleck.
When he was in Boston filming a movie, my DBF went to deliver him a sandwich and got a photo with him. It's hilarious, I'll try to find it, if you want.

ooohh please do, that'd be fun to see.

I'm aboard.
Are those wax statues of Ben and Jack? LOL!

I am amazed at how small the castle is there. When you said Jen stopped for this, I had to really look hard on the picture to see "what". I guess I'm so used to WDW, and I did read that they made that one bigger, but I guess I didn;t realize how small DL's is. Is there anything inside?

Fantastic pictures :) we (my DBF and I) are doing are simular trip to you this september and are so excited :)
