Did anyone do a trip to Atlantis from the Wonder ship? I"m wondering (no pun intended):p which would be the better one and also how many activities the kids would miss if we did go. Also, it says 2-5 hours which is a big range. If you did just the basic how many hours would it roughly be? (5 seems high for us)

Thanks!

We did not do the excursion because it involved a lot of walking from the water taxi to Atlantis in the hot sun. Instead, we took a cab which took us right to the door. We spent as much time there as we wanted and cabbed it back.

Don't know how many activities the kids would miss, but it ended up that we spent about 3.5 hours, including the ferry ride to the place and back. The actual tour you pay for is about 60 minutes long, of the aquarium and such.

The walk from the ferry pier to the resort is about 5 minutes. It's not far at all, despite the sun.

We got back with enough time to take a dip in the pool, and enjoy some lunch.

We did what Mrs.G did (and I'm a Mrs.G too) :D

Grabbed a cab over and took a quick ride right to the door! Got our writstbands and did the aquarium and walking around on our own. It was nice to be able to go at our own pace and not be rushed by the tour. We could linger where we wanted and rush past the parts we wanted.

We went over not long after the ship docked and made it back in plenty of time for lunch and an afternoon on the ship.

Both times we went it was $4 per person each way which I rounded up to $5 per person as the tip.

I had heard that you can not gamble at Atlantis unless you are with the tours or staying at the hotel. can anyone clear this up? It does not make sense since they should want everyones money!

When we were at Atlantis in May of 2002 we stayed about an extra hour while I hit the slots. In Feb. of 2003 we didn't gamble but some in our group did. Both times we were on our own.

Both times the casino seemed pretty empty (this was morning so I think more people were out by the pool than indoors). I would think they wouldn't put limits on who can go in if it is that empty.

Does anyone know how much it costs to do the aquarium on your own?

The wristbands are $25 for adults. I think it was $19 for kids but not 100% certain on that. I belive under 3 were free.

Under 3 is free.... Anyone can play the slots, you dont' have to stay there etc.... As far as the amount of time - it really depends on you and what you want to do there. I would definitly do it on your own. We went and as the OP stated we were back by lunch. It was definitly worth it. We loved seeing it and the aquarium was pretty neat.

Thanks for the info on the pricing. Going on our own definiately seems the way to go.

I just called Atlantis and the woman said that the day pass which lets you into the museum parts, i.e. dig, etc. along with shopping (no water activities included with the pass) is $25 per person no matter if you are an adult or child. I didn't ask about the under 3.

So...doing the math for me anyway, it would be $33 + $23 + $23 for myself and two daughters via the Disney tour of Atlantis and $75 + $5 (cab ride). So all in all it's $1 more to go on your own. I'm still undecided but leaning towards on my own only because I don't want to have to wait until 11am to go there. I mean it would seem that the kids would get hungry from 11 - 2 unless of course they feed you which it doesn't look like they do.

How exactly do you get from the ship to the atlantis resort if you are going on your own.

There are plenty of taxis at the pier to take you anywhere you wish to go.... It was $4/person when we went in 2002. When you are returning just go out one of the the lobbies and there will be plenty of taxis around to take you back to the ship....
