Hello everyone. We just arrived back from our first cruise. If I had to sum it up in one word....(I don't think I could!) LOL AWESOME
Ok we started our trip in CoCoa beach at the Holiday inn Express. Very clean. We got there Saturday and watched as the Magic and the Carnival Glory pulled out of port. WOW the Glory is impressive! The Holday Inn Express is a great hotel. The only down fall was we had to cross the very busy Highway to get to the restaurants and shops. But very nice.
Sunday we arrived at port at 10am! Just as they opened. We drove through dropped our luggage then parked. We had a bit of a wait to get back to the port as the Disney rep was not at the walking area to check us in and the security guard would not let us in till he saw the manifest(even though wwe had already been check at the other gate by someone else) That was a little iritating but we finnally got into the port, sailed right through check in and wandered around the port totally amazed at being that close to the boat we had only seen on the computer. We got to board around 12. We headed right to Parrot Cay for lunch. Jaw dropping is the only way to describe this resturant. We loved the tropical decor. We sat with a very nice older couple and enjoyed the buffet. We then set off to explore. Even though our children were not with us, we went to see the labs. There were long lines for signs ups and a lot of people in there but it looked great. We took pictures and off we went. Our stateroom was done about 1:15 when we wandered in. GREAT. We were in 6500 forward! We would soon learn the down side of being the very first room in the hallway forward! Any time we wanted to go get something or go back we normally had to walk the entire length of the ship. UGH! We did a lot of back and forth walking during the 4 days. We of course did the statdard life boat drill. We were in station G starboard side outside deck 4. We got there a few minutes early and were right in front of one of the alarms as they sounded. If I had small children I would bring ear plugs for them for this drill! Then we found our way back to our stateroom and headed up to the sail away party. That was so much fun. What amazed us the whole trip was how they could be having this party on deck 9 at one pool and not hear it at all at the adult pool or for that matter anywhere. The entire trip we did not hear and noise from the other pools when we would walk deck 9 they just seemed to end as the other music began. We made our way to the very front of the ship to watch us sail out to see. After we were out we headed down to shutters to sign up for our photo package and pick up our first photo from boarding. We then headed to the pool for a little bit before going back to get dresses for dinner. We hd the late seating. First night was tritons. This was our favorite for food but not atmosphere. It was a great place. We both had the beef tenderloin EXCELLENT!!!!!! We were sat at a table for 8. We had a great group of people at our table. After dinner we headed to Wavebands for the comedy show of Gary Delena(Who's daughter is our babysitter, or was till she left for collage this week) and the 80's night. Both were great! All in all our first day was spectacular!!! We were in awe os the ships bueaty and of everything. As far as ship movement....we did not feel it. We felt a little movement when we firt sat down on the bed tht night but nothing major. Felt more like a slow moving train motion. The rest of the cruise half the time we did not know when we were moving and when we were not . So that is day 1. If you want more info on anything please ask. I am not yet at my home coputer so can not get to email. I will be home Tues. and will post more of the trip. Again thanks for all the help on planning!!!
