4-day compared to 7-day?

Hi all,

Has anyone done both of these cruises? We did the 7 day almost 2 years ago and liked it but I am thinking next time we might do a 4-day with a trip to WDW on one end. It's hard for us to get away for more than 7-8 days with two teens between school, sports (year-round!) etc etc!

Also, what do you recommend - doing WDW before or after cruise?

Finally, on the 4 day cruise there are two options right, with or without day at sea - which do all prefer?

I appreciate all advice - it's been a while since I've been on the cruise forum!

Do WDW then the cruise...
WDW is a world of stress and the cruise is the opposite, LOL
You can relax while onboard...:)

Have fun!

Utoh- I had to edit because I forgot to say to do the day at sea!

The 4 day is still a great cruise, not as long of course, but still wonderful. I also found it easier to relax on the 7 night as we never wanted to miss anything while on the 4 night. Though disney is a lot more running around, I would vote for disney after the cruise. We went to Disney for 3 nights prior to our first cruise, and then we were so exhausted on our first night that my husband and I had to go to bed early. (Not the kids mind you, just us old folks!)
Plus, you will be disappointed when you leave the ship, so you at least have Disney World to still look forward to!! There's always plenty of time to rest once you're home.

Thanks for the feedback so far - I actually think a 5-day cruise would be the perfect length for me!

Any other input out there?

We have done two 3days, two 4 days and two 7 days. For some reason the 4 days seem much more relaxing than the 3 days. Obviously, the 7 days are the best, but we have found the 4 days fine. We like the day at sea option, although to be honest we have neve gone to Freeport. One feature I really like is that they do Castaway on day 3. That gives them two chances to make it (day3 and 4) if seas/wind are a problem on day 3. But I really like the fact that if you get to Castaway on day 3 (we always have), you don't have that panic feeling that the cruise is about to end - still one day at sea to go! The best way for us to enjoy the cruise is to take it easy and not try to plan too much. I think that goes for all lengths. Fun just to relax!!!

We've done the Freeport thing and were not impressed. If you're going to do a four day, I suggest the day at sea.

As for 4 Day v 7 Day, we've been on 4 - Day and 1 - 7 Day, and loved the 7 - Day much more. But other wise, I'm not a good one to ask. I was not thrilled with WDW when we went 6 years ago. Since then, we've just done the DCL exclusively. Once Patrick gets to be about 6 to 7, I'm sure we'll take him to WDW at least once.

Did the 4 day in 2000 and the 7 day in June. If you do the 4 day, do the parks FIRST. That way, you can relax on the ship. That's what we did in 2000. This past summer, we did the 7 day then 3 days in the parks and we were exhausted the last day of the parks and then had to fly back. Also, you are so pampered on the ship that going to the parks isn't as fun because you have to stand in line for everything.
