We will be in the World from Sun 4/1 - Sun 4/8 and signed up for 4 character breakfasts:

Tues - Akershus at Epcot
Wed - Hollywood and Vine Playhouse Disney at Studios
Fri - Tusker House at AK
Sat - CRT at MK

The first three are all 8:05 reservations and the parks open at 9 so we may get out before the park opens for a little head start.

Have 2 DD's ages 3 and 5.

At a minimum this will get us incentive to get an early start each morning, given that it will be a very busy week at the parks!

Generally speaking, you're probably not crazy.

I reserve the right to change my opinion on that, but character meals can be really fun for all. My advice is always this: Don't rush through and get all irritated if it takes longer than you want it to....

Coming from experience I think it is fine. We did four character breakfasts on our last trip in June. My children who are 6, 4, and 2 enjoyed each of them because they where all a little different. I do have to say though by the end I, personally was tired of buffet type breakfast food.

Good Luck and Enjoy!:)

I don't think you are crazy at all! We have done it :)

For our visit in July 2010, we went to the restaurants below, all for dinner. We loved it!

Crystal Palace
Garden Grill
1900 Park Fare
Chef Mickey's

We always do a lot of character meals because it is better than waiting in line in the heat for a picture with the characters.

We'll be there 7 or 8 days and we'll probably do a character meal almost every day. Our kids loved them last trip and I think we did one every day.

You have a good variety of characters, so it should be fun! Enjoy!

I have given up on the character meals because of the pricing, but I do enjoy them. I agree with your second point. It is awesome to wander through the parks before they are open. I would almost pay Crystal Palace breakfast prices just to get in early. The Tusker Characters are so much fun. Have a great trip.

We do lots of character dining:
Cinderella's Royal Table
Akershush
Crystal Palce
Chef Mickey's
Donald's Safari at Tusker House
Alice in Wonderland at 1900 Park Fare

Theya re awesome! But we mostly do lunch ro dinner at them unless it's specifically a breakfast character meal

Have fun!

When my kids were younger, I loved character meals and we did one most days. That way, I never had to wait in line to see a character, and my kids were entertained and well behaved during meals, which allowed me to relax more. Personally, I think you are on to something. ;)

You are crazy! Just kidding. We always do one for the little ones, but that's all I can take personally, and a couple of the kids (my nephew and DS especially) really don't like them all that much. In fact, we're considering letting the girls and our youngest nephew do a couple next trip while dad ;-) and uncle Ron take the others for a QS and extra rides. I'm willing to make that sacrifice for my family.

If your family loves the characters then it is good for you!

I guess I'm saying that everyone has their own thing, and if you and your kids love all that character time, then go for it!

I have 3 currently scheduled for our July trip, and am considering adding another.
We have Hollywood and Vine breakfast, Ohana breakfast (late morning on our rest day) and Tusker House breakfast. We only have DS4, so avoided the princesses, but I am considering Askerhus. He loves all Disney movies, and does know most of the princesses.
Plus I think it would be a great opportunity for him to wear his Prince Charming costume (Costco crusader costume from Halloween, but he does this cute Sleeping Beauty act with a kiss and bended knee when he wears it)

We do a character meal just about every morning for breakfast, and we always do a couple for dinner (Chip & Dale at the Garden Grill and Cinderella's Castle) each trip, too. So four is definitely not crazy in our book!

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback!

We've done 7-8 character meals in one trip before. (on one trip in 2010 we even did Akershaus twice).
On our first 10 day trip we did
Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Akershaus, Crystal Palace, Playhouse Disney, Tusker House, Akershause (again), Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner, Chef Mickey's.

on our last trip we did
Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner, Garden Grill, Cape May Breakfast, Supercalifragalistic Breakfast and Akershause

A couple of trips ago we did 4 character meals in a week and DD was really excited at first and then as the week went on the character meals seemed to thrill her less and less - sort of like they lost the wow factor or something:confused3. She was just turning 5 that trip. So last trip we booked just one ('Ohana) and next trip I let her pick one (Akershus). I'm sad that she's starting to get out of this phase:sad1:.

Your plan is perfect if you are a family of early risers. If not, you may find it stressful to get everyone up and ready and to the parks extra early.

Not crazy at all! During a 9 day trip, we're doing:

Tusker House lunch
Akershus
1900 Park Fare
Garden Grill

and Les Chefs de France, which isn't a "true" character meal, but we timed our reservation to be there when Remy is.

(And if I could pull off one more, I would. Still looking at options to replace our Captain's Grille dinner, since I'm not 100% thrilled about it.)

Nope, not crazy at all. We did four last time and enjoyed every one of them. This time we have five planned and am trying to add a sixth one!

Ohana, Akershus, CRT, Tusker House, and 1900 Park Fare. Trying to add Crystal Palace for before park opening.
