-Dad and other kid on the opposite

We LOVE the idea of staying in a Cars or Lion King suite at AoA as they are our 4-year-old's two favorite movies, but would we be comfortable enough? Or, should I start looking into two standard value or moderate rooms???

I think you would have more storage and perhaps more privacy in 2 standard value or moderate rooms. We loved the Lion King Suite. My mother in law slept on the table bed with one of the kids and the other two slept on the pull out couch. There was some storage in the room but not very much. We gave her all of the storage in the main room and kept all of the kids things with us in the master. The bathroom situation worked out really well. Not sure how long your trip is - but if it is a longer trip and you'll need more storage you might want to go a different route. But if it is a shorter trip it will work out just fine. The theming is amazing at AoA. Over the top Disney. So very fun.

Could you do it? Yes. Should you do it? Not necessarily. You might feel cramped with that many adults and not like not having a true bed for you and your SO. I love the AoA suites, but in this case, I think I would book two standard rooms.

We've stayed in a Cars suite and if we only had two kids I'd stay in one again with my parents in a heartbeat. But I love my parents dearly, my husband gets along with them extremely well, and we'd be there 4-5 days tops. The suites are limited in storage. I think the answer to this depends on how long your trip is, and how well you and your spouse get along with the grandparents. I found both the murphy bed and sleeper sofa quite comfortable, but I still wouldn't want to sleep on either for more than a few nights in a row.

It really depends on your family dynamics. If you are fine with it then I see no reason why not. You would have your own bathroom and the sink is outside the toilet/shower area. Your folks would have their own bathroom so no reason to come out during the night. The suites themselves are large. You could also request a pack n play if your 2 year old will sleep in it to give you more options.

If it were my family when younger, we would do it no problem. I would pick Cars, the entire section is like living in the movie.

It really depends on how comfortable you are with sharing a suite with other adults. Personally, I couldn't ever do it. I need my space. Also, it sounds like there may not be tons of storage.

I'd rather have a room for myself and my family, and a room for the grandparents. Some time apart is always good.

Thank you for your responses.

We plan on staying 7 nights.

Ughhh, I still don't know what to do. My wife and my parents get along great. There is no issue there whatsoever. My wife said under normal circumstances she would obviously rather have her own room. Me too. However, we both agree that the whole Cars thing for our son might be worth the sharing of a suite. My dad could not care less about the accomodations. The trip is a surprise for my mom so I can't even get her input.

My concern isn't so much storage (I have absolutely no problem living out of a suitcase for a week. I'm pretty sure my dad is the same way), or privacy for the adults, but more so privacy for the kids. When we took my in-laws 2 years ago, we had connecting rooms at POR. When we got back mid-day and at the end of a day, we'd put our son in our room and then hang out in my in-laws' room until he fell asleep. Chances are that the kids will be so exhausted that they'll zonk out as soon as their heads touch the pillows, but if not, is the master in the suite large enough for 4 adults to hang out and unwind at the end of the day?

I dont know if 4 adults sitting on a quuen bed would be comfortable to wind down at night.. Unless you put the kids first down in the queen bed, giving adults the couch etc. and then moving them
Seeing that connecting rooms are not guarenteed etc... I would be leaning for the suite.. if the kids sleep early etc... or naps you can hang in the other room.
we have the lion king booked in aug.. but have studied the floor plans...

the queen room is the only room with a door.. coming in and out of the room is via the murphy bed.. so really if you do plan on putting kids down early and hanging for me giving them the queen at least to fall asleep would be my choice. this is where the cot for the 2yr might come in handy.

I love my mother and she loves our children but we both need our space....lol I would do 2 rooms and hope for connecting. At least you a can put the kids down for the night and then hang out in the other room. At least there is seating in the other room for the adults to sit and hang out. Just remember values have double beds and the moderates has queens. I am bad I learned my lesson, from now on I pick the resort for the adults and the parks are for the kids.

You could take the dining chairs in there, I think there would be room enough for that.

I have to agree, that the parks for the kids, but pick the resort for what the adults want! The kids will be sleeping in the room, but spending the day looking at things at the parks.

We stayed in a Nemo suite with 6 adults and a 1 year old, but for only 1 night, which was fine. I have to say that it was impossible for all of us to sit in the living area together. It really isn't that big. I probably would not have made it 7 days though. You can't beat the theme though.

Personally, I have a Murphy bed I sleep on nightly, but it does require a mattress that has a spring and a topper of memory form and even then it is very hard since you don't have a box spring, and are like laying on a bunk in board but harder. I went thru three mattresses before I found the mattress with the box spring combo that works and Disney's does not have that. So if you or husband have any problems with your back, legs, shoulders, neck I would say the Murphy bed would not be comfortable for 7 nights, and definately the pull out will not be comfortable for 7 nights, even if you have a good back and legs. Pull outs usually only work for one night or or kids, learned that with an TV, non of the sofas work for adults except surprisingly the pull down sofas at Disney that are daybeds not pull out sofas.

I would go for two rooms, at POR, you can get two queen rooms, they now have a pull down in queen rooms for the kids, or you can go two queens and one King room. CBR have them also now, the pull down beds if you want to check out something new.

I would be more comfortable with two rooms at a value or moderate. At most 2 - 3 nights sharing an AoA suite would be possible to endure.
The kids will be happy at whatever resort you are happy with. Getting a good nights sleep and having some privacy would be more important to me than any theme.

I would suggest either:
(1) stay at POP with 2 (hopefully) connecting rooms and walk across the bridge to AoA for the kids to enjoy the theming and to take some pictures.
(2) split a stay with 4 nights at a moderate such as POFQ or CBR and then 3 nights at AoA for the themed suite experience.

I stayed in the Nemo suite with three adults, a teenager, and a six year old. There was no issue with storage and all the beds were comfortable. Until the OP mentioned hanging out in the master bedroom I would have said go for it. But if you really want the four adults to spend time in the master bedroom, I don't think it would be very comfortable. The dining chairs are hard plastic and not comfortable. I also suggest staying at POP in two rooms and walking to AoA to see the Cars building.

Comfortable enough to sleep in for an entire week?

Yes, my family found it comfortable for 8 days. My DW and DD 5 slept in the master bedroom, I slept on the Murphy bed with DD 12, and my SIL slept on the sofa bed. All beds were fine. Two bathrooms were fantastic (especially with 4 ladies in the room :) ).

Awesome. Thanks, Jeff.
