Hi
We have the 4/3 Deal at AKL in March. Our FL AP's will expire one day after we check in. I plan to upgrade our passes to FL AP's. Should I get the no expiration or Park hopper on the package as well? I don't know how to figure that last detail.
Thank you!!

Someone on another thread said that it benefits to do the park hopper and no expiration because you are only paying for the 4 days (and getting 3 free--so the non-expiring on those 3 days is also free). You would pay about $319 (plus tax) for each ticket.

Once there, you can use the ticket one time and it automatically increases to the value of a 7 day park hopper non-expiration ticket, about $388 (plus tax), That is the value you will have toward your renewal.

Basically, you gain about $65.00 in value to put toward the new tickets. I have never done this, but according to that original poster, it works.

I would think it would be more cost effective to just get a one day pass...thats the minimum you need to book 4/3 pkg, then use that (75) towards the fl annual pass

The most cost effective thing to do would be to have 7-10 day tickets (you can have any ticket with the 4/3 deal) with no expiration on them. You'll have the three days free with the 7-10 day ticket, which isn't a big deal--about a $10 savings, but the no expiration option is a huge savings. No expiration is based on the number of days (and isn't cheap). You'll get the 7-day no expiration at the 4-day price, 8-day ticket at the 5 day cost, the 9-day ticket at the 6-day cost, or the 10-day ticket at the 7-day cost. That will save you ~$75-~$105 towards the purchase of an upgrade. All you have to do is take the ticket, use it once bringing the trade up credit to current gate value, and then upgrade to an AP at guest relations. What you paid gets credited to the new ticket and the extra savings results in a discounted AP (FL AP in your case) price.

Regular Prices:
  • 2-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $176.79
  • 3-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $250.28
  • 4-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $286.49
  • 5-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $310.98
  • 6-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $324.83
  • 7-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $359.97
  • 8-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $400.44
  • 9-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $430.26
  • 10-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $465.41

4/3 deal prices:
  • 5-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $286.49 (saves $24.49)
  • 6-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $286.49 (saves $38.84)
  • 7-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $286.49 (saves $73.48)
  • 8-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $310.98 (saves $89.46)
  • 9-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $324.83 (saves $105.43)
  • 10-day base ticket w/ no expiration for an adult costs: $359.97 (saves $105.44)

All you need to remember is that upgrades are based on cost of ticket and not days and/or options. Just do not buy more ticket than what the FL AP would cost (not sure on that number). And wouldn't it just be the renewal rate that you are looking at?

I can't figure out the 9/10 day thing. I hadn't done the math for days 8 & 9 before. If someone can double check me there and/or explain it to me, I'd appreciate it.

Adding hoppers is the same price for one-day or ten-days so it doesn't save you a thing and there is no real advantage to doing so.

So if I get the 4/3 deal, party of 5, Can I buy just one person a pass for the 4/3 or do I have to buy one day for each member of the party? My husband has his AP. I was going to make mine the package pass and purchase child AP's. All this is crazy but the best airfare is with the package.:coffee:

Hi! Yes, you are correct, it would be a renewal FL AP. That's the part I could not figure out about putting the no expiration option. I knew I don't want to go over the price of the FL AP Renewal.
Thanks for all the great information and advice....I have read alot of your posts

Everybody in the room has to be booked under the same ticket. You buy the least amount of ticket needed and then upgrade tickets after check-in. Any type of AP upgrade needs to be done at the parks or DtD, but regular tickets can be upgraded at the hotel.

Unused tickets can be saved forever; they will never expire until 14 days after first use, or until fully used if the no expiration option is purchased. The nice thing is, ticket prices generally go up every year so you might save some money and if you decide you want to upgrade, as long as you use the ticket at least once first, it will be worth current gate value, giving you a bigger discount in the case of upgrades.

According to All Ears, a FL AP renewal is $345.06. So, I would buy a 6-day base ticket with no expiration saving you $38.84. Something is better than nothing! You'd still pay $20.23 for your upgrade.

Just for kicks, I ran these numbers. A *new* FL AP will cost $382.34. So, you could buy a 7-day base ticket with a $359.97 value for $286.49, saving $73.48 on that ticket. This would cost you nothing more and you’d pay $22.37 more at the time of the upgrade. I can see a CM encouraging you to get the 7-day base since it costs the same and you are getting the no expiration option. I'd stick with the 6-day as you will still save $2.14 more, but just in case you can't say no... lol

Thank you! I will go with the 6 day no expiration.....

We have 7 day park hoppers, through the 4/3 deal for 2A/2C. I plan to upgrade these after entry on our first day to FL AP's for everyone. Does this sound like a good idea? My frazzled brain can't cope with the math :)

You just want to make sure that the price of the per day ticket is less than the AP. They will not upgrade to a lower price ticket. When are you going? Will you go during the busy times? I prefer the FL SP to a AP. I bought my first AP in 1994 never went one day during the peak time so since we buy SP it saves about $100 person per year. Not going during summer, christmas, or easter is fine by me, I don't like going when its so crowded.

We are going spring break and my kids are in school, so we are likely to use it during the busy times, unfortunately.

That saves you $9.53 on the adult tickets (with tax). If you look at the costs above, add no expiration option and you'll save a little under $75 per ticket. The math says to stick with a 7 day ticket.
