We just returned from the 4/15/07 4 night and rebooked onboard for 4/20/08. Anyone going with us?

We'll be with ya!

I just came on looking for a thread about the 4/20 cruise. My Ds is going to be 11 and he is started to get a feel for forums. (he is a Nintendo fanatic). I was wondering if anyone had 10-12 years old willing to post to each other. let the kids get to know each other before the cruise.

This will be DS's 3rd Disney cruise, so he can help out any kids that don't know what to expect.

Hi Marie,

Glad to hear we're not the only DISers going. This cruise will be our 6th DCL cruise, so our DS(almost 13) knows his way around too, probably better than I do!

Welcome to our (very - so far) little group. Do you mind me asking who is cruising with you? From our family it will be me, DW and DS who will be almost 14. We may take his best friend, but that is still up in the air.

If you have any questions about cruising on DCL - ask away! We'll do our best to help out.

Now - if only next April wasn't so far away!

Hi,

It's me, DH, & 3 kids. (DD12, DS8, DD7).

The only thing I have a question about right now it the excursions in Nassau. I am not sure what to do or if we should do any. We may just walk thru the straw market & get back on board to enjoy the ship.

On our first 4 day in 2002, we stayed on the ship and we've never done any of the excursions in Nassau, so I'm no help there. Last month we took a taxi to Atlantis and did the aquarium/Dig tour on our own. It was interesting, but we wouldn't do it again. It was $32 per adult and $22 per child and does not allow access to any of the pools or the beach. The Straw Market is usually pretty crowded and is another one of those "been there, done that" kind of things. We're not sure what we'll do next year. I don't mean to sound so down on Nassau, but it isn't one of our favorite ports. We're going back on the Wonder more for the ship than anything else. We'll look over the excursions once we get closer to the cruise.

Ya know, that seems to be the general consensus here on the DIS, that is why I was unsure. No one raves about Nassau & since we are paying to be on the ship thats where we may just stay when it docks at Nassau.

Do you normally get to the dock the day before? I read alot about the Radisson? I have to look into that more.

We always fly in at least one day prior to the cruise. We usually stay in Orlando the night(s) before, but last month was the first time we stayed near the port. We stayed at the Radisson, the night before the cruise. It was ok - nice pool area. Unfortunately, the night we were there they had the local high school prom being held in the ballroom. Lots of teens wandering around, especially later at night (midnight - 1:00am). We thought we'd be smart and order room service breakfast - big mistake. Poor service and we never did receive everything we asked for. I'm sure that Sunday mornings are hectic for them, with 3 ships leaving that day. A lot of people probably spend the night there prior to cruising, and that's probably true for most of the hotels near the port.

Hmmm..maybe I get can DH to agree to a few days in WDW before the cruise & just stay there? :thumbsup2

I haven't decided what hotel or how we are going to get to the port from WDW & back yet.

This past April we flew in two days before the cruise. Stayed at the MCO Hyatt when we arrived, went to Downtown Disney for a while on Saturday (got picked to get Year of a Million Dreams Mickey ears) then drove to the Radisson. When we got off the Wonder, we went to WL for two nights. We had a bunch of unexpired park hopper passes and decided to just use them up. That was a great way to end the trip.

It was only a few dollars extra to rent a car for the whole week and park it at the port. We could have left it at the Radisson for free, but the shuttle to the port was a ZOO!! Plus, we were on our way to WDW within minutes of leaving the ship, instead of waiting for the shuttle to go back to the Radisson.

YAY! I see we have another family joining us. Sorry I haven't been around, but we have a trip to WDW in August I have been busy planning, so the cruise in April is not something that has been on my mind lately. Though, my DS11 will tell you HE CAN'T WAIT! LOL

We are going to take the kids out of school on Wednesday, April 16th and we are going to drive to Vero beach for a 2 night stay. Then we will drive to the port Sunday.

mommykds, our kids are close to the same age, just opposite gender! LOL

I have DS11, DD9, and DS8 when we cruise.

Hi!
We will be in Disney this August too!! 48 days to go! I know what you mean, I haven't had time to really research the cruise forum since i have been preoccupied with the August trip.

I was thinking of taking the kids out of school a day or 2 early as well & hopeing to add on a few days at Disneyworld after the cruise.

Mommykds! We are going August 17 -24th. We will be at the Beach Club Villas from 8/17-8/19, then an Old Key West from 19th - 24th. We are doing the P&P Party on Tuesday 8/21.

Will you be there the 21st? Maybe we can meet up and the kids can say hi, and then they will kind of know each other before the cruise.

COME ON! There has to be more than just 3 families going on this cruise. Where is everyone? The April 19th Western has a thread running hot, so maybe everyone will be on that ship?

Cool! Mommykds and outahere, we may have the ship to ouselves!:cool1:

Hi!

We will be at the Beach Club 8/21 - 8/31!! We are doing the P&PP on 8/24. I think that would be fun to meet up & say hi. We will have to figure out when we can "bump" into each other!

That would be sweet, Ed! On the DVC member cruise 2005, I won tickets to a reception in the Walt Disney suite. It was unbelievable! I don't think they use it at all though. The bathroom was extremely dusty, and one of the bedrooms was being used for storage.

I guess they don't have many people willing or able to spend that kind of money on a 4-day cruise.

Ed, have you ever done the banana boat ride at CC? We were going to do it in 2005, but they cancelled all water excursions because of rough waters. Now that my youngest will be 8yo when we sail, I am booking it for the whole family.

mommykds, we will definitely have to try and bump into each other in August!

Hi Marie.....

On the EB repo in 2005, we were able to tour the Walt and Roy suites. For the concierge guests only, the concierge team organized a tour of all the different categories (and layouts) of suites, and both the Walt and Roy were fantastic. We really weren't all that impressed with the cat 2 suites. They both had a big support beam (kind of like in a basement) in the living room areas. They were nice, but the cat 1's were much nicer. We also got to see the different layouts of the cat 3's and our HA cat 3 (8602) was part of the tour.

Yes, my DS and I did the banana boat ride a couple of years ago. It was fun, but it was a little rough the day we went out and I almost fell off. A teenage girl did fall off, and we had a hard time getting her back on. They usually put the kids at the front and the adults at the back, where it can get really bouncy. I would suggest that you try to sit as close to the front as possible. Plus, since most people are wearing sunscreen, it rubs off on the bananas and they can get pretty slippery. I would definitely recommend wearing goggles, because there is a lot of water coming at you. Leave glasses and sunglasses at your beach chair, because they will get lost otherwise. DS wants to go again, and since he's 13 now, he may be able to go by himself. That was one of those "been there, done that, don't need to do it again" things for me.
