4/10/2011 April 10, 2011 Dream 4 Night Cruise

I have also checked in and selected the 10.30 - 11.00am timeslot. Does anyone know if this means if we will be able to board early, although our room may not be ready?

It says it is not tied into the boarding and I doubt anyone will board before noon as they have to get the ship ready. I would imagine though that since they are trying to space when people arrive at the port, getting the 10:30 spot, you wouldnt' be boarding too awfully late as the idea is to not have the port as crowded as it was for the first few voyages.

My daugher, Ireland, who will be 9 shortly, is a Make-A-Wish child. Her wish was to cruise on the Disney Dream. We just found out this week that we will be on the April 10th voyage! We are very excited and Ireland can't wait to see the ship. Ireland has Devic's disease and was diagnosed in May of last year. She has chemotherapy treatments every 4 months but she is doing well right now and we hope that she will be well in April so that she can fully enjoy the cruise.
We are so looking forward to the trip and meeting many of you!

:welcome:Ireland and family! This will be a great cruise, we have a wonderful bunch of Disneyers on this cruise. I am sending you prayers and pixie dust :tinker:from my family to yours. Crystal in PA~

Welcome... it wont' take you long to figure it out. Now I just went on facebook and it may take me forever to figure that out. I feel like when I was little trying to teach my dad how to program the vcr... now I am my dad!:scared1: My girls are 9 and 11(although the 11 year old is planning on going to the 10 and under club).

This will be my 2nd Disney Cruise (Wonder 2001). Leaving April 10th (staying at DW for 3 days before) and traveling with m DH, DD-6, and DD-2. Cannot wait! Finally got our room assignment!
So now can someone explain to me what all this talk of fish extender, yankee something or other!?! lol

Was just reading up on what a fish extender is! How fun/....I think my daughters would like to do something like this....do I have to do anything special to participate???

If anyone is interested in joining the FE, yankee swap, t-shirts, cruise meet, pre-cruise dinner etc, look at post #160 on page 11 of this thread and you will find the information for getting into the document to sign up.

We are going to be at the resorts before too--how are you getting to the port? :o)
I'm trying to decide if we want to rent a car or do Disney transport

Where are you staying before the cruise?

Thanks for the welcome! Ireland is getting very excited about the trip, and I am too! We found out yesterday our room # is 9640. Ireland's grandparents are also coming and they will be right next door to us. We are scheduled for first dinner.
Ireland became very sick in May of 2010 with Devic's disease (or Neuromyelitis Optica). This is an auto-immune disease (not something contagious!) where her own immune system is attacking her body, specifically her spinal cord, brain, and the optic nerve behind her eyes. Ireland was really in a bad place this summer; she had lost almost all of her sight in her right eye & a little in her left eye. She was also experiencing the beginning stages of paralysis because her spinal cord was also under attack, and we were using a wheelchair quite often due to the weakness in her legs. She spent so much time in the hospital this last year...almost 40 days. Her neurologist diagnosed her with Devic's disease in July and we started treatment, which is a chemotherapy every 4 months. There is no cure for Devic's so we will continue with the chemo until a cure is found. Luckily though this chemo is targeted only on her B cells (the cells that are believed to be responsible for the attack on her system) and she has not lost her hair! Since July we have seen an amazing turn around in the progress of this disease....She has gotten back some of the sight that she lost and is walking around, dancing, and just being a NORMAL 8 year old! We only have God to thank for the amazing progress she has made!
This trip is Irelands Make-A-Wish trip, but for us (her mom & dad & grandparents) it is more than that....it is a celebration of the little things we used to take for granted. We intend on enjoying every minute of it and making memories we will never forget!
We hope to meet some of you on the cruise. Scootch, your daughter turns 9 on the 25th of March right? Ireland will be 9 on the 22nd. Maybe they can email each other before we go? We will probably be wearing some Make-A-Wish t-shirts so please say hi if your from the Disboards!

So glad to hear Ireland is improving. Oh how scary and difficult for you all to deal with. My niece, who was like a daughter to me, had a rare cancer and just seeing her have to go through so much... it is just not fair, especially for kids.:grouphug: Yes, Kenzey is 9 on the 25th, they will have something in common. :) I will pm you her email. She just recently got an email account so she may be a bit slow at it. She usually sends a bunch and then a few days pass and she forgets about it... haha. Looking forward to meeting you. We are also on first dining so will see you there too :)

How wonderful to hear Ireland's story and I look forward to meeting you!
My older daughter Evelyn turns 9 on Monday and would also love to connect with the 9 year old crew!
She doesn't have email but I think you are both in the facebook group, so if you think the girls would like to connect, feel free to send me a message there.
