I think stlkeeler is organizing a trip to see the Magic Fountains in Barcelona. I just google'd sunset times for our trip and it looks like the sun will not set until about 830. I think the shows wait until dark before they start and then they run all night (at least pretty late).... just fyi, I could be wrong....:confused3

Well that's good because someone told me it was the Black Pearl in Castaway Cay and I couldn't remember or find it on the DCL website. Someone I'm friends with on fb said something about them filming the new pirate movie maybe she has her information wrong though and I didn't take the time to check her.
--I love the films, but get the two ships confused myself. The only way I remembered the difference, was that I took a picture of the display sign in front of the ship (420 tons, versus the Magic at about 83,000 tons).

The Flying Dutchman was used for filming in the Bahamas. After the movies, it was just sitting somewhere (in the Bahamas). I believe Tom McAlpin (DCL President) heard of this, and asked for it to be towed to Castaway Cay. The rest is history.

BTW - the Flying Dutchman really isn't floating (as I am told). Rather, it is physically attached to a permanent perch.

Never would have guessed it wasn't black. Thanks for the information. By the way, what tour on ship was it that you took to find out this information?
--I believe it was one of the STORY OF THE TOUR "tours" ... I do not think it was a BEHIND THE SCENE tours. Watch the Navigator for various tours - you should be able to recognize this specific tour. This tour starts outside Palo's (the plates on display are GLUED IN PLACE) ... they tell you about the hundreds of different carpets throughout the ship (most other cruise ships have no more than 8 carpets on board) ... point out the stabilizers ... lots of interesting stuff. Basically, they tell you a story, while they give you a tour (similar to the underground tour at WDW). The tour is usually slightly different each time, as the cast member has a basic routine, but also performs give-n-take, based upon guests Q&A. It's free, but you must pre-register. DON'T BE LATE, they WILL start without you!

--There have been various posts on this thread. The basic information is on page one (thread #5). We will be trying to organize a was for groups of DISers to either meet at the gangplank, or at the fountains, for various shows. Thread #5 will be updated shortly, and hopefully the information will be copied into the Mini-Navigator.

If you are not listed below, I have your name tag info.

If you are on this list, I have lost the info (or otherwise don't know) which name tag you want: either with or without running Donald on the bottom. I am missing some name info for some of you - you can verify accuracy by looking at the EB Cruisers page on the external website - see http address in signature box below.

You can PM me with any other personal information (names, kid's ages, hometown, etc) if you don't want it published online.

Looks like our info on the site is correct :thumbsup2 I heart me some Donald
Oh and DH's username is Enderikari, he swears he is going to start a Pre Trip Report and was just waiting until after the wedding, we will see about that...

Also we will be second dinner seating dining with *Chrissi* and her DBF

Now that our wedding is over I am ready to hop into cruise planning with both feet! We have some excursions and Palo booked but I need to see if there are other things we want to do and maybe cancel our DCL excursions.
Just sent off my passport for renewal yesterday, was hoping I could change names beforehand but realized I just need to get it renewed and worry about my new name later, let's hope it makes it back in time!

Steve, is it just a group for adults or are children welcome? Do you know if the fountain is within walking distance of the pier or will transportation be needed?

Thanks
Eleasa

Does anyone have a super super early flight leaving that last day on the 24th? We are looking at an air berlin flight, but it leaves at 8:45am

Me too! (isn't pack rat another name for scrapbooker??) :lmao: We can use anything/everything in our scrapbooks! I also find myself taking pics of everything too.

Now I will never forget the name of the color either! Thanks Monica!

No, a pack rat does not do anything with the stuff, they just save it. A clever, creative, artist makes scrapbooks and art out of momentos. :thumbsup2

Are we looking for one mini-nav per cabin or per person?
On prior cruises, we've had one Mini-Navigator per cabin.

With such a large roll call, and with current airline luggage restrictions, you'll want to pack as little as possible.

Also, you will have to carry them onboard, since there is no guarantee your luggage will be delivered to your stateroom before the DISmeet at the Promenade Lounge.

Speaking of luggage, expect delays in having luggage delivered to your stateroom. The crew will be handling much more luggage than they normally do.

Do you think there will be more luggage than usual? We're actually bringing less than we would on a more typical 3/4/7 day cruise because of the flight restrictions flying back from Europe. Normally, we'd bring on more because we aren't so limited flying domestically in the U.S.

We're on a 9:20 flight. Dh is not worried about it -- at all! I am a bit stressed..

From what I've read on cruise critic is that it's important that you know what terminal you need to go to at BCN. We will hire a private driver (will probably arrange this on the 23rd while we are in Barcelona) to pick us up at 7 at the port and take us to our terminal.

I'm flying Delta home...it would be the same luggage restrictions as in the state wouldn't it?

Thank you so much! DCL gave me the runaround on what they "officially" recommend. I know that this is not always true. :headache:

I just needed to know that others were on early flights as well and then I will be ok. I am sure that others will be getting off early too.

I found these things when I was looking for other stuff from the last TA.

Here is the map showing where the on and off bus stops and the route. Also the tickets were 9 Euros for adults. I know the kids had a different price but not sure what it was. These buses are literally RIGHT OUTSIDE the cruise ship.

Thanks, this is great. We are planning to do the hoho bus, but hadn't found this site. It is very good.

Are those of you who are on the 10:50 AM Aer lingus flight taking Disney transfers to the airport or hiring a driver?

Absolutely.

I think people will bring more stuff because of the longer cruise.

I also think there will be more bags loaded onto the Magic in Port Canaveral than will come off the ship in Barcelona.

Many if not most people will be flying domestically to Orlando (two bags free on Southwest!) so they'll have a larger luggage allowance to start.

But people will pare down their stuff as we reach Barcelona. Cases of water and other beverages will be consumed. Candy given as FE gifts will be eaten. Many books and magazines will be donated to the crew. One popular cruise packing tip is to bring clothes (undergarments, pajamas, t-shirts) that you're ready to retire, and to leave it behind, asking your room steward to donate it to a local charity.

I've been on international cruises where I would board with a suitcase and a duffel bag, and debark with just the suitcase and the duffel bag folded inside to meet baggage limits.

Just my two cents.

A good point Woody, We are hoping to lose enough stuff to at least cover the shopping the girls will do. I will be happy to go both ways with the same number of bags..
