... I saw some other boards that had photos of peoples cabin door and it looked like they had tons of large magents on them. Do people have them made and put them on each others doors?

Some people make their own - and their doors are covered before the ship leaves port.

Some are FE gifts.

Some have to rely on the kindness of strangers.

Lynne,

If there is one more lanyard (I sent you and e-mail), I just booked the cruise.

I'm also interested in the FE group 2. Have to get a FE built though... no sewing option.

Also, anyone need one more for Palo?

I would call and try again. I have found that asking to speak to a supervisor helps. ... Works for me every time :)

Too bad I didn't get you to call for me. They weren't rude, just unable to correct what I consider a bad business move.

This was not my first attempt. I thought I would try again. And we had done the supervisor thing before. They really don't want to budge on this one. I don't have the fuel supplement - just the $799 pp Cat 12 rate.

As I told her, I own Disney stock, but they have just lost my future business, because I don't want to budge either.

I'll do as someone else new to our group mentinoed - there's plenty of vacations out there that aren't offered by a Disney cruise. If I had a bucket list just for vacations, it would be really big to hold all my dreams.

I would love to know the answer to this as well. Does anyone have dimensions on the FE. Maybe I can make some before we get on the boat in less than 60 days!!!

It is quite hard to find the instructions for making one. So I pulled out my FE and measured it for size (to answer your question):

The entire width is 10.5" wide
The material with the pockets is 8" wide.
The round balls on the ends of the dowel are 1" wide each
Leftover width is taken up with the ribbon.

Originally, the material for the pockets is 11" wide, but you put a fold in it to give it more volume when attached. The height of my pockets is 8.5" - I think a little taller than original instructions (so things don't fall out so easily).

Total height of the FE is not so important as width due to placement:

There was talk of avoiding smoke and its odors on Princess. What about Disney? I'm assuming it will be better (i.e. more controlled/contained) on Disney. Hope I'm right. ...

No smoking in cabins - Yeah! Haven't had one that had lingering old (or new) smoke. Smoking is allowed on the stateroom verandahs - therein could lie issues depending on your neighbors.

Public area smoking: open-air starboard side. Not many choices - decks 10, 9, and 4 (1/2 of the jogging trail, believe it or not - I have turned around and done the port side only). No smoking near the Mickey pool.

Anyone with a Cat 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, secret porthole 10, 11, sideways or otherwise special cabin (handicapped accessible) cabin willing to open up for an afternoon tour on an as-yet-unspecified sea day?

This will be a time-limited open house - all you have to do is hide your valuables - no cooking, no providing refreshment or decorating needed.

Right now we've got:

Cat 3 (midship) cabin 8032 mommyto3princesses

Cat 5 connecting (deck 7) 7580 Dishy24
Cat 6 Outside with Verandah

Cat 7 Outside with Navigator’s Verandah Mrs. Gumdrop
Cat 7 Outside with Navigator’s Verandah disdel

Cat 9 Outside Large Porthole (deck 2) Happy Goofy

Lynne, do they do the "snatch the kids" program at both dinner seatings, or just the late?

Thanks
Eleasa

Frequently early dining overlaps or occurs during the time that the Club/Lab are taking kids to Topsiders for dinner.

Christmas Organizing Workshop will be information and help in setting up a Christmas Organizing Notebook to help you plan out your Christmas - no matter how big or small a celebration you want. My web site is www.christmasorganizing.com - check it out.

The workshop sounds like a great idea!

I'm totally snowed in with my broken arm and way too much white stuff. I finally got out on Friday after last week's mess, and today we got another 6 inches. And it is supposed to warm up some on Thursday....and then snow again all weekend. OK, it doesn't matter. 2 months from right now I will be on the beautiful Disney Magic. I'm fine, I don't need anything....I have the good sense to prepare for things like this. And I WILL get out for a grocery run on Thursday (should have done it last night, but they only predicted an inch for today).

Sorry about the broken arm. Glad that in about 8 weeks you will be sunning it on Castaway.

If you need a few more people/cabins for a second FE group I'll join that one as well. I also ended up with extra FE gifts so I will share with more friends!:flower3:

Same here, doing the first FE and could easily join in the second if it's small :)

Exactly why we ordered extras.

Thanks to the entire Lanyard Team for ordering our lanyards. Excited and happy to be surprised to find out what color they are!

Mother in law and Father in law are joining us for the transatlantic portion of our trip, so busy trying to help them get planned. They've done DCL before but not in a few years.

So now my family is back to early dining.

Hope everyone is having a great week! Trying to keep up with this and the MED thread and not doing very well at it. Hope to not be missing anything important.

Good Morning Everyone!

Welcome to any new Disers I missed on the past couple pages :)

Michelle I know others have said it but ....My heart goes out to you...Sorry for your loss.

I cannot beleive it is so close.... I can hardly stand it :yay:

Another silly newbee question. I saw some other boards that had photos of peoples cabin door and it looked like they had tons of large magents on them. Do people have them made and put them on each others doors?

Go to page one of this thread, posts 3 and 4 have many options for door magnets. Select what you like, print on color printer. You can laminate them OR put them in a clear plastic sleeve and attach magnets to the back. Some folk print them directely onto magnetic paper, but you don't really need do to that (and it's a little pricey).

There is also a thread on the main cruise forum here on the DIS where Tom will make the DCL name tags for you too!

Ok so here is an update on Bunco!

I just printed out all of the scorecards. I also have tally pads, bell and fuzzy dice. I have 8 sets of dice. Right now with the way the list looks we need at least 9 sets and probably will need more. I recall someone mentioning that they can also bring dice for Bunco. We will also need pens. I wonder if DCL would provide their pens?!?!?!?

I think that the cost to play should be $5. It will make it so much easier to hand out monetary prizes vs buying gifts and bringing them.

I can bring my dice....I just have to find them but I believe that I have 3 sets of 3 (or 9 dice total)...I'll let you know what I find but I'm sure I'll get my hands on them.

Agree w/ the $5 cost of play. Cash is the best prize! Just note to other bunco players to bring some smaller bills to play, this can't go on your card :goodvibes

Posted by bound2travel: ...I spent a good part of the day going to every store in the mall that sold jewelry looking for a cougar/panther pendant. I thought it would be a blast to wear one on the cruise.

Do you have an ebay account? I used (cougar, panther) in the keyword search field (looks for EITHER cougar OR panther), then selected JEWELRY/WATCHES category ... brings up more than 1,000 items.

You can include -watch, -bracelet, -necklace (- prior to anything) to exclude searching for that word ... so you do not have to sift through auctions. SS Pendants or charms were available from $8.99.

<<Chistmas tunes>> "Oh ... the weather outside is frightful ..." / snip / BECAUSE IT'S SNOWING AGAIN! :sad1: :confused3  :headache: :scared: :sad2:

Um...this may sound weird, but....I assure you I'm not some crazy old lady or stalker or anything.

OK, I have several FE gifts left over from my last cruise--stuff I got to give as FE gifts, but we didn't have as many cabins/kids sign up as usual. Am I correct that no one would object if I delivered some of these on the TA? I don't want to participate in the FE group as I'm sailing solo this time (FE seems more fun with family). I'm on Southwest on the way down, so I don't have luggage issues on that leg.

If there is a smaller second group, I'd try to use their list (if made available). If not, I'd just put items into FEs in the halls, not really needing a list or any private info.

Any comments? Objections?

I was thinking around 6, does that work for you?

Not sure our plans for dinner. I know DISers in the past have all ordered pizza's and stuff and just had a dinner meet around the pool.

I think the lanyards are getting sent to you so you will have to bring those with you.

 So Excited!

6 is ok with us. There are several pizza places near the hote.

Put me down for the category 10 - my hubby already thinks I am crazy!

Bring them, please. Stephanie has 8 sets. We need 3 dice per table. So far, we have 36 players; 4 players to a table.

I can also bring dice - putting them with the games I am bringing now.

Auntlynne, I don't have my cabin number yet but if I happen to end up with something not already on the list, I'd be happy to have everyone come see!

Thank you so much for all the welcomes. We have been booked since March 09 but haven't done a thing since. I just found the site late last night. Now I'm feeling a little behind compared to all of you. I have tons of questions (after reading some of the posts) for my travel agent before I bother any of you.
I would love to be included with the "crazy" remember I am traveling with two small children with out my hubby so I think I'll fit right in. I sent my info to michelle for the secret mickey so I hope we made the deadline.
Let me know if there is anything else I need to do or particate in with the group.

Here is my family/cabin info:
Mom/grandma
Me (mom) age 41 DIS name:dster113
Daughter Grace 23 months at the time of the cruise
Son Luke 5 years

Room 2110

Hometown: Chappaqua NY

Welcome!! Nice to see another NYer onnboard. We're from Long Island.

I'd be willing to show our cabin, but we're still on GTY status, so we could wind up with either a 6, 5, or 4!

Michelle- very sorry to read about your dog :(

It's snowing here again. I'm seriously ready for spring at this point!
