I am a first year teacher and I have an administrator coming to watch me next Wednesday. I teach special education k-3. They will be coming when I have my third graders in my room. I will have three kids. Please help me with an ELA lesson that includes some sort of chant! It needs to be about ten minutes long.
thanks so much!:cutie:

Try the disabilty board. You could do a lesson on chicka chicka boom boom (which is very easy to make into a chant).

I wouldn't suggest Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with 3rd graders. That's more of a K-1 book. You might want to head over to proteacher.com. There are boards for every subject area and the teachers over there are very open to sharing. Good luck to you.

Do you work on spelling at this time? If you do you could do a review of their spelling words with "chant and cheer". I use to do this with my second graders. For example; cheerleader style rolling arms and stretch out or jump when saying "give me an ---". Or body spell a word; using their body to try to spell each letter. Sanp or clap each letter when you say "give me a ----". Air spelling (writing with their fingers in the air) to each word. This would get them up out of their seats, not necessarily hvaing to use pencil and paper, actively engages the students, and is a creative way to review spelling words.
