easier - but I'm so sorry to hear this. Hugs!

C.Ann... I am so very sorry you have to do this. That is the hardest thing I had to do with my pets. My heart goes out to you {{{{HUGS}}}}

Would it be awful if I didn't stay in there?

No, it wouldn't be awful! You need to do what you will feel comfortable with. I couldn't go back with my Pepper when she was put to sleep. I just couldn't do it. It is such a difficult thing to go through. But when your dog is suffering or ready to go it is the best thing to do for them.

{{{HUGS}}}

I have never had to make this choice. I am sending you a {{{HUG}}}. I can;t imagine the pain you are having. But, we know he will be better watching over you and your husband :)

I'm so sorry. Do what is best for you, but I know I took great comfort in seeing how painless and "easy" it was for my Sabrina when we had her put down. It was just like she went to sleep.

It is such a heart-wretching thing to go through............but you will know what's right.
Our dear dog was also 14 and had declined for a year.
We just knew looking in his eyes.
I couldn't go to the vet (I did that with the kitty) ......DH did it.
But he did bring him home and we buried him in the yard......casket, tombstone everything.

You have to do what is right for you......and your DH. How does he feel? Does he want his "baby" buried at home?

I'm so sorry! I know how hard this must be for you(we did the same 3 weeks ago), {{hugs}}. If you think you can handle it, then you should definitely be there when he sleeps. It is very peaceful and quick and you could sooth him as he drifts. Do what's best for you!

C.Ann

I am so sorry you have to do this. It is a difficult decision to make.

I work for a vet and see it about 2-3 times a week. It is very painless and an easy way to go. My boss gives the animal a sedative to relax them, and then he gives the dose of the "pink stuff" as we call it.

Hugs to you, and your family.
Stay if you like, but if you don't it is okay too. We never make people stay if they are not comfortable with it.

Good luck..
Lisa

I have no advice to offer, just a huge {{{hug}}} for you and your DH. Pets are a HUGE part of the family, and putting them to sleep is never easy; it's like (not like, it IS) seeing a child die. Another huge {{{hug}}} for you and your DH.

I am so sorry for you, I do know what you are going thru, I just had to have my 15 year old Brandi put down a couple weeks ago. I could not stay in the room and everyone at the vets office was as kind and understanding as could be.
Just do what you feel in your heart is right for you to do.

{Hugs} C.Ann. :( Always sad.

Being with our two Huskies was very comforting to us, I am am sure to them. Just do what comes naturally to you, you will know. {{Hugs}}

ooooo.....God Bless you dear!....there are few other situations which can be soooo gut wrenching!!!!

I'm teary eyed just thinking about what you have to face.....:(

But know that if your 'buddy' is "ready".....what your going to do...is a blessing to him.....a possible alternative to having to bury him....is to ask the vet to have him creamated.....

This is such a tough part of life for caring loving human beings.....our little 'furry friends'.....are nearly as much a part of our hearts and lives as a child or family member......

...try to focus on what is 'best' for your fur child.....sometimes...the 'right' decision....is not the easiest.

And remember.....your buddy will remember you fondly......

{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

I am so sorry for you love dog to have to be put down. It really hurts to have an animal put down. Hugs your way.

My heart goes out to you. We had to do the same thing 2 months ago with our 15 year old baby. We choose to stay with her and I agree with a previous post that when we saw how peaceful it was, we knew our decision was the correct one. We had her cremated in a mass cremation and her ashes are in a common area in the pet cemetary. You need to make the best decision for you and your DH. There is no right or wrong one. Do what you feel in your heart is best for you.
