Can you get another medical/insurance?

Well this is the ins provided through my husbands employer so it would be more out of pocket for us to go with an individual policy.
I would rather have the one that makes him drowsy. He has also been having lots of stomach cramps. I tried to get the dr to give him something for that as well but they state they dont like to give meds like that to pediactric pts.
Though Im not sure why. If your stomach is cramping up and hurts a lot, they should do something about it no matter the age. He is 15 BTW and bigger than I am.
Anyway this is his 3rd day home from school with this stuff and I just want him to start feeling better.

Whenever a script comes in over my normal co-pay I call the dr. I ask if there's an alternate drug that works better with my script plan. All but one time he's given me something. The one time he didn't he just gave me samples from the office. Sometimes the dr. just don't realize that particular company costs alot more with your script card. It's been fairly recent thing that some script plans prefer you to work with certain drug manufacturers.

At this point..I hope the meds work and the pain stops. I just really hope that the tests show what is wrong. Once you can get that, treating it will be easy.

I'm on Zofran right now too. I'm willing to go on record and say that if I had to I'd pay out of pocket for it. I can't get out of bed without it. I have horrid morning sickness where I was vomiting several times a day and couldn't keep any food down.

I will warn you that Zofran's major side effect is constipation. Horrible horrible constipation. I know your son is sick right now but if you can get a stool softener and extra fiber in him I would.

That cost is outragous! :earseek: I can't imagine being someone who doesn't have insurance.

My migrane meds are 188. for 9 pills! :earseek: :earseek: Good thing, I have insurance. Or I wouldn't be getting them at all.

Yep, sounds like Zofran.

I just picked up a 4 day prescription for it on Tuesday and it was $414 for 12 pills. Luckily, my copay was only $27. I was on Phenergan (sp??) for a week to help with all day morning sickness/naseau and it didn't help, so they tried Zofran. So far, so good. I actually feel like myself for the first time in 4 weeks!

I know the pharmacy I go to always substitutes generic drugs unless specifically asked not to (then my copay is $10). They didn't substitute the Zofran, which makes me think there isn't a generic for it. Since it seems to be working I hope my doctor can prescribe a longer prescription for me since I don't want to have to pay $27 every 4 days (but it really has been so much better!!!!)

I hope your son feels better soon. I felt relief almost immediately after starting on the Zofran.

I'm sorry your son is sick. Hope he is feeling better soon.

My dad has cancer and the amount of money that my parents have shelled out in the past two years would make you all vomit! His one script is $2000 for, I think, 25 pills. They both have Epic and have AARP as there secondary insurance but have to meet their deductibles first. He is on so many and yes, they do have to pay the $2000 first, but then after they reach the ded. it's only $20.

Mom has shelled out $7,000 since June for both of them. She has tried all the insurances in our area and this seems to be the best. I feel awful about it and wish I could help out but I don't make enough. But, on a side note, Dad is doing well. Mom may go crazy because of this but till then :confused3

Puffkin Im pretty sure the pic in your siggy is how I looked at the pharmacy yesterday (picture me as the dog and the pharmacists as the cat! LOL).
Glad its helping with your MS. I had it the whole 9 months with last ds and it was such a horrible feeling.
