Because that crap gets on my nerves. Its very satisfying to shut those guys up. But thats just me. It's like a computer tech discussing his new drive or a gear head bragging about the engine he just replaced.

Well, then maybe you should put in your headphones or walk away. I really don't understand why you get satisfaction out of making people feel awkward. Especially someone that's doing their job and can't let on how rude you were. Too bad you just can't let it alone.

People doing their jobs gets on your nerves? yikes.

Allow me to restate my thoughts. There is a particular thread of Disney Cast member that seem to enjoy stating obscure Disney facts. I have herd so many that it no longer appeals to me. Also I have endured Disney mega fans restate trivia and attempt to upstage Disney cast members and this bothers me. I make an obviously false statement that couldn't possibly be believable in hopes that I can pass on the subtile hint that I have not interest in their dialog.

I'm not sure why either of those examples are annoying? If someone is thrilled about something new in their world, why would I begrudge them the chance to talk about it? I may not understand it all, but I can still take pleasure in someone else's excitement.

Also, the post you quoted was describing a CM attempting to entertain the crowd with a Disney trivia Q&A. This seems entirely appropriate and is probably part of the the CM's job description, at least in spirit, if not in the actual fine print. "Entertain the crowd." Why would you want to shut the CM up, especially if others in the audience are enjoying the questions or finding the factoids interesting?

Indeed, when cast members are entertaining the crowd with their facts I completely agree. It's their job and I can respect that. I guess my concern is when Disney Trivia becomes an attempt to up stage Disney cast members or when it's the pedantic lecturing of a fan. There have been many times that cast members attempt to engage in such conversations with me. If such comments are directed towards me than I get frustrated with the jargon.

Don't really think the CM left that day feeling down about that. For one it's not worth getting down over not knowing a ton of Disney Trivia even if you are a CM. I wouldn't even think to do that or really even the the time to stand there and converse over Disney Trivia with a CM while I'm on vacation and there are a ton of things I want to do in the parks.
Feeling down? No just confused.

I've never experienced this, fortunately!

I think the reason I was confused by your post is because this thread started with exactly the opposite scenario - it was a guest who was attempting to upstage a castmember, not the other way around. If you could link the other thread you're referring to, I'd be interested in reading it.
