Just wanted to give people the heads up, i received an e-mail from disney visa for 35% off room rate for dates 8/9-8/18 and 8/22-10/3. It seems this opens to the public on the 25th. Just wanted to let everyone know it applies to the moderates and some other resorts.

Thanks for the information! I was waiting to hear if they would offer any discounts because we're thinking of going the week of the 22nd :thumbsup2 So, would you have to pick between this or the free dining, or could you get both discounts?

You can't "stack" discounts, so you'd have to pick one or the other. Depending on where you stay and how many in your party, one could mean a lot more savings than the other. If you call Disney, they're usually helpful about pricing out your deal both ways. :thumbsup2

Well, they're both great by themselves so I can't complain. I'll definitely talk to them about finding the better deal, thanks for the tip!

No problem...we're not going until Nov or Dec, and I'd take either deal in a heartbeat!

For us, free dining is about $90 a day since its just DH, me, and DD(5). If we stay at a deluxe, 35% off usually ends up being the better deal. But like I said, I'll take anything they throw me! :rolleyes1

I keep reading about people chaging their FDP to this 35% off discount and saving money but do you have to pay for the dinning plan on your own then? We are taking 7 people with us this time for a big family vacation and i am wondering if i should take the 35% offer instead of the FDP but i don't know if it would be worth it or not. Can anyone help?

Yes, you would need to pay for dining on your own. A calculator would assist you in figuring out if you'll save or not. Going solo and at a moderate, I'll save $750 over 12 days. There's no way I'll eat that much food so it comes out better for my to do the 35%. 7 people with 1-2 rooms, I'm guessing you'll come out better with the free food, although staying at a deluxe during an expensive time could make it fairly even.

In my case (LV concierge at Poly), this package is actually cheaper than the 7 for 4 deal. I may have to pay a $50 change fee, but I still save a little. Other people may want to check, too.

Has this deal opened up to the public...if so, would someone please share the code? :thumbsup2

Yes, it is open to the public, code is EQR. Just go to the wdw site and check on specials. Then proceed. We got AK for $149 and sports for $69. :cool1:

The DIS has it on it's home page.
Click on the news page and it will take you to the codes.

Last year we had the option of free dining or 40% off we took the 40% off.
But I would recommend still paying out of pocket for the Dining Plan. Food is really expensive at WDW.

I had the free dining deal for Boardwalk for 2 adults for a week---I changed to the "Magic Your Way with Basic Dining" with the 35% room discount and saved over $100 over the free dining deal! :)

I called to check on this too. We are staying 8 nights at the Poly with free dining in August. I have 3 kids but one is 14 so he is an adult on the DP. So....the free dining is actually quite a bit cheaper still. Oh well, I tried. Can't hurt to check. The CM I spoke to checked it for me graciously. He was really nice.

how do you use the codes. I can't find were to put them? We are AP holders and Disney visa. We need the night of Aug. 15th. Don't want to stay at a value but we arrive late. kind of wanted something cheaper before we move to our other resort. Thanks

Go to Disney.com and click on bottom of page it shows the different special offers, it says 35% off,or you can click on special offers on the upper right hand corner of the page, that will bring you to all the current special offers.

Just checked, for 8/15 room only, PORS is available for $108 this includes tax or WL $168 this includes tax. Pop is also available for $78 tax included. This offer is now open to the public, so no need for the Disney Visa.

I put in my dates to compare which deal is better. Going from Sept 10-20. Staying at the CBR .Free dining is still 300 dollars cheaper than the room discount and paying for the dining plan.

I think if we wanted to stay at a Deluxe the 35% probably is a better deal bc the price of the dining plan doesn't change.
