I'm just about to book our airfare with Airtran... the flight we're looking at has a 35 minute layover in ATL. Is this even possible? Not to mention we'll have three kids - ages 4, 2, 2 at the time...

I know that it's very likely AirTran will change our flight times but in the case that they don't... I just don't want to get ourselves stuck in the Atlanta airport!

35 minutes....in ATL......:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Won't work.....*doesn't mean that someone, sometime didn't make it...but I would never gamble my vacation day on trying to get through the airport in 35mins....particularly with some many airlines cutting back service to up passenger loads. The days of easy stand-by are long gone and if [when] you miss your plane you could have a l-o-n-g wait to be back on your way.

Thanks guys.

That's what I was thinking but just wanted to check to be sure...

So I'll look for layovers of an hour or more at ATL...

Any suggestions as to BWI? An hour there, too?

Just trying to figure out what works best for us. (And I'm 99% sure they'll change our flight times anyway... but just in case we're in that 1%, I want to make sure we're covered)

Way too short a connection, especially for ATL.

I wouldn't reccommend that if you were a fit, solo traveler with no carry-ons and you didn't need a pee.

AT 35 minutes out, they're already boarding the other plane!!

We went in June and We had originally an hour layover and through the time changes it moved to 30 min. I was worried but when I called the lady said by law it's like only 27 min they have to allow you plus we were the early flight so if we missed one we could probably get a later flight. Needless to say we made it with no problems. Going to Orlando and back home. When you get off the plane they have people waiting to point you to your next gate. Most likely it will all be from the same terminal. It was me my wife, 7yr, 2, and 8 mo old plus we gate checked our double stroller. I would make it early flights if possible in case something did go wrong. This was also our first plane flight so we were pretty much new to everything. Odds are you wouldn't be the only one with a short layover.

We also had time to use the restroom and made it to the next gate before they started boarding.

I also called airtran when my layover was shortened to 35 min was told the same thing that 27 min is standard transfer time and is enough time. Lets hope so will be myself ,daughter and 9 yr old When we did fly through Chicago we were held on runway in Orlando waiting for clearence from Chicago. From the time plane touched down not unloaded we had 17 min until next plane took off we did make it , i was alot younger although the luggage did not it came on the next flight Does anyone know if your luggage does not make it on connecting flight does the airlines deliver it to resort we are not using DME

Yes, if your luggage does not make it to your destination for you to claim, the airline has to deliver it, *unless* it doesn't make it because you checked it in late.

Also remember depending on where you are seated on your arriving flight makes a difference too. If you happen to be near the back you must wait for everyone ahead of you to get off the plane which could eat into your 35 minute wait. You also stated you have small children so making a bathroom stop will be unlikely.
What I would suggest is purchasing a seat closer to the front of the plane so that you are one of the first to get off.

Our luggage will be checked in at Moline Illinois so if it doesn't make it on to connecting flight would be airlines fault so that is good that airlines will deliver to resort We are sitting in row 15 so we are hoping we get off the plane quick and our gate is close

Just checked airtran www and my flight for dec is now at 40 min layover wonder how many more times it will chang before I leave
