I booked the hotel and all for NYE (4 nights) but pricing flights and the cheapest I can get is $330. That's ridiculous. I might rethink this trip and book to somewhere else!

Have you tried a few different airports? Did you try Southwest from Philly?

Also, something I found just recently - out of PHL, sometimes you can book a nonstop flight on United that is really a codeshare flight with US Airways (ie, they put you on a US Air flight). We just booked a flight in November for $64 per person one way. A ticket through US Airways on the same exact flight was $120 per person.

Good luck!

I've tried Atlantic City, Newark, and Philly. I might try Baltimore since the person I'm going with lives down near there but I'll try the United idea too!

Thanks!

Tim, another web site that is helpful is Kayak.com. However, they don't pull up Southwest's fares though. You might want to check SW on a daily basis. I'd recommend downloading DING, but the chance that you'll see a DING fare for your dates is remote.

Some folks also fly into TPA which is about 90 minutes away from Orlando. Maybe you can leave from your preferred airport at home but fly into TPA.

Wheile pricing, are you able to see how full the flights are? If they look pretty full, I would book. If they look empty, wait a month or so and maybe teh price will go down.

I'll second the suggestion to consider Tampa airport. We just flew in/out of Tampa last week and had no trouble at all. We encountered no traffic and the drive was about 75 - 90 minutes each way.

It's NYE, in a year when Christmas is a Monday -- what did you expect?

Holiday airfares are always really high, but when Christmas is a Monday or Tuesday a LOT of people take the entire week off. That makes airfares climb even higher for the bookend weekends.

Okay it looks like 330ish is the cheapest anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic to MCO, so (thanks to everyone above), I'm trying Tampa now. Only thing is that we both are under 25, so if the rental car company allows us to rent a car, we'll have to pay some sort of surcharge so I'm going to check out the difference with the surcharge.

Thank you again for all the suggestions!

And yeah I was expecting high airfare but not $330! :scared1: :goodvibes

Okay here's the pricing deal: (per person)

If I fly into Tampa:

flight/car 440
hotel in dtd 360
tickets 350
total 1150

If I fly into MCO:
flight 350
hotel (onsite instead of DTD) 450
tickets 350
total 1150

now I could just stay in DTD instead of onsite if I fly into MCO, but then I'd have to take that shuttle and I wouldn't have a rental car so I'd rather just stay on property and use disney transportation.

I'm going to talk it over with my friend and see what we decide. Barring what he thinks, it's MCO hands down for me since it's the same price. And hey, it's my birthday...I mind as well enjoy my first vacation from work!

Thank you again for the help. It's greatly appreciated.

Have you tried downloading DING from the Southwest site ? I think you should be able to do better with Southwest.

What are your dates ?

I was going to but I thought it'd be a waste. 12/28 - 1/1.

I'd definitely do MCO and stay onsite.
And book with either SW or Jetblue. Not sure how SW and the DING works, but if Jetblue's fares go down, you get credit for your next flight.

I think SW is the same policy. Thanks for the advice!
